Downtown Los Angeles might look like a scene out of Call of Duty next week, but military officials say dont be alarmed. Its a drill.
Military helicopters will be buzzing over the downtown skyline. Marines and sailors from Camp Pendleton armed with chalk-firing nonlethal rifles will converge at undisclosed locations in Los Angeles all in an effort to get urban realism training.
Military officials will not disclose exactly when the training will occur in Los Angeles, hoping to dissuade potential spectators. But they dont want people to panic.
The last thing we want is for people to see Marines in Ospreys and think that World War III has begun, said Capt. Brian Block, spokesman for the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
To prepare the unit for its 7-month-long deployment to the western Pacific and Middle East next spring, Marines and sailors are training Friday and through Dec. 16 at locations throughout California, Nevada and Arizona and soon the streets of L.A. for urban military operations.

WHY is there a drill?
Interesting, isn’t it?
Send them to Ferguson. There they can get real training.
Hope it rains and they get 'good training'.

Now see? That's exactly the kind of question that makes it necessary to have these drills.
Didn’t they get training in Baghdad?
Saw two Osprey’s heading east over Hollywood about three weeks ago. Not that it’s related to this, but that I’d never seen one before. Beautiful ships.
Great.
So a platoon of jarheads jump out of an Osprey in full battle rattle and the population is supposed to applaud?
It probably was related.
Conservatives don’t even care that Federal Troops are now allowed to act within the USA. This is an example of how big government denies the truth until the day conservatives give in and accept anything big government does.

Touché...: )
Depends. Is the Osprey still flight worthy?

I see them over my house from time to time.

Marines have been doing this for about 20 years. There is nothing to see here.
Saw a pair of Osprey’s do a flyover of the San Fernando valley and Los Angeles about two weeks ago.
They were flying low. When they flew by Griffith Park they were lower than the mountain behind it.
They flew from the East over Glendale out over the San Fernando Valley, down the Sepulveda pass over the Wilshire area and then east just south of downtown.
I took a couple of photos. It try to be aware of military activity, and since they were so low, I viewed this as recon type effort.
