>>What cracked my up about submariners is their ability to zone-out, one minute you are talking to them or drinking with them, and then they mentally disappear and go into their own world for a bit.
We do that at work all the time. Standing there talking and one guy will just go blank and walk away. If we were the whining type, we could probably get this classed as PTSD and get some VA benefits for it.
Look up USS Puget Sound, a coed repair ship aka USS Pubic Mound.
Do we know for certain the recorder was male? Perhaps it was a lesbian recording other lesbians. Or perhaps a hetero-female was aiming to record the boys and missed.
You can be assured it was a male. The only chicks on subs are commissioned officers and the accused was an enlisted second class petty officer.
Sociologists say that people learn to do that in crowded conditions, remember Amber Lamps.
Here is a submariner post that I think is pretty good, by mylife.

Interesting perspective from a fellow Army soldier....thanks for sharing. Probably similar to special ops teams.
I remember videotape. The last formats I worked with were DVC Pro, Digi-Beta, Beta SP, 1 Inch, and believe it or not, 2 inch Quad. That was several years ago.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who says footage. The one that gets to me still is “filming” or “being filmed”.
Just my 2 cents.
LMAO ..... wouldn’t make good bubbleheads in today’s navy. Yet the wife’s question as to what’s that smell when ya say “Amy” could lead to a divorce these days.....
stay safe ...
PS
The periscope at Subschool Pearl Harbor was never used to look at activities in female barracks across the way.
“You stupid woman! I said Amine!”
I wouldn’t say that, they are different types, both are made up of very bright people but the personality types are worlds apart, and their interaction with each other within their own group is different, and has to be.
LOl !!!
Very funny....
yup.
Don't forget "dial" as in dial 9-1-1 (maybe if you can find a payphone, you'll be able to dial it).
