The American mother of a 14-year-old boy killed by an online gaming partner in Britain says she did everything she could to protect her son: She limited his access to electronics, installed parental controls and forbade him from using the same server as a boy she had grown suspicious of.
However, though Lorin LaFave, 47, said she warned both British police and her son, the boy, Breck Bednar was murdered by someone he met online on Feb 17.
Computer engineer Lewis Daynes, 19, pleaded guilty last month to Breck's stabbing murder that day in Daynes' house in Grays, Essex, England. The teenagers had been playing games online for several months, despite LaFave's efforts to put an end to their relationship.

Gaming violence?
We need a seven day waiting period on all game consoles..
This doesn’t make sense.

Some of these on line games should be classified as a gambling site. You have to pay to buy these packs that may or may not advance your character. Some people pay hundreds of dollars or more to keep a character at the top level. Some competitions can be fierce, especially if a person invests a lot of money into the character.
These games are insidious because they say they are for free, and sure at some level they are but once a player gets hooked, these sites know what it takes to keep them paying up.
I use any source.
Not going to the ABC site is more technical.
My low memory iPad can’t deal with a lot of sites that are script heavy.
That explains it.
The article didn’t, at least not in the excerpt.
It made no sense the way it was written.
I have no idea about those sites.
Thank you for telling me.
Obviously. Note that ABC never mentions anything about motive.
