congressional aide who recently criticized President Barack Obama's teenage daughters on social media told NBC News on Monday that she would resign.
Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Republican Representative Stephen Fincher of Tennessee, had said via a Facebook post that Obama's daughters, Malia, 16, and Sasha, 13, needed to show "a little class," complaining they appeared to look disinterested last week during an appearance with their father at a White House pre-Thanksgiving ceremony at which he had "pardoned" a turkey.
Her post unleashed a backlash on social media, prompting Lauten to later apologize on Facebook for her comments.

An “apology” should have sufficed

That is a lie! Don’t they remember how the media attacked the Bush twins or even how the media went after Neil Bush or Michael Reagan.
Really stupid to pick on kids. Their papa should provide more than enough material for criticism.
The snotty teenager vibe was pretty obvious in that photo op scene - they are just tormenting their “dad” like their mommy does constantly.

I am soooo tried of Republicans doing the “honorable” thing and resigning after bad behavior. A Democrat NEVER resigns under any circumstance. Look at Marion Barry for Petes sake. This always happens for Republicans. They give up their power as a kneee jerks reaction. How about waiting a few days and no one will even remember?
One would think that a communications director
would know how to phrase a critique.On the other hand the girls seem to not

Well she did post a non-apology apology. And this whole thing was a dumb mistake on her part. But she shouldn't have been fired over it.
the first mistake was resigning, she was right.
