Does Missaukee County, Michigan, really have a dangerous air pollution problem?
The 574-square-mile region, nestled in the northwestern part of the state's lower peninsula, is home to all of 15,000 people. Its economy consists mainly of Christmas tree, dairy and livestock farms, and summer vacationers. The nearest "cities" are Cadillac to the west (population 10,281), and Grayling to the northeast (population 1,863).
Yet new smog rules proposed by the Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday would treat this little county like Los Angeles...

How difficult is it for a REPUBLICAN CONGRESS to understand?
Inspectors producing nothing with cruel rules for those who do. Northern Michigan does not have a smog problem.
For all practical purposes the USA does not have a smog "Problem" You want a smog problem. I'll show you a smog problem. Try mainland China any day of the week. Gag. Hack. Cough. It makes Pittsburgh of the 40's and 50's look like paradise. The EPA is NOT anyone's friend but the EPA's.
Apparently impossible.
These regulations aren’t about “smog problems”; they are about acclimating Americans to a reduced standard of living. In my town you can watch illegals pedaling to work each morning, like something out of Red China; the goal is to make this the “new normal”. Individual ownership of detached homes is falling already; for many young people individual ownership of cars is a thing of the past (and many who have them are simply leasing/renting them - they’ll never hold a title to home or car).
Disturbing to watch this unfold...
The most severe pollution problem we have in America is in Washington, DC and it would take nothing short of a nuclear event to clean it up.
THIS is where I EXPECT the new Congress to take a stand. If not, they need to be reminded that ALL (ALL) of the House is up for re-election in 2016.
Unless the "point" of the regulation is to significantly weaken the U.S. economy and inflict as much financial damage on its citizens, which is what it is intended to do.
They are dropping the ozone numbers to the point that the only way one could comply is to cut all the trees and pave it. For example, the Christmas tree farms product a considerable amount of terpenes that then convert to ozone by photochemical processes. Broadleaf trees produce more isoprenes, which is why the “Great Smoky Mountains” got their name.
