Yes, the Democrats have legislative majorities in Illinois. but at the present time:
Illinois has one Republican in the US Senate (Kirk);
The incoming US House delegation will include 8 Republicans as opposed to 10 Democrats;
There are currently two Republicans holding statewide office (Treasurer and Comptroller);
In January, there will be two Republicans holding statewide office (Governor and Comptroller).
Yes, it is bad, but not as awful as the post describes.
The Governor-elect (Bruce Rauner) Senator (Mark Kirk - my former congressman) and Comptroller (Judy Barr Topinka) are moderate liberals who go along to get along. They are nice people, but they won’t push meaningful change.
