Geo-engineering: Climate fixes 'could harm billions'
BBC News ^ | November 25, 2014 | By David Shukman, Science editor

Schemes to tackle climate change could prove disastrous for billions of people, but might be required for the good of the planet, scientists say.

That is the conclusion of a new set of studies into what's become known as geo-engineering.

This is the so far unproven science of intervening in the climate to bring down temperatures.

These projects work by, for example, shading the Earth from the Sun or soaking up carbon dioxide.

Ideas include aircraft spraying out sulphur particles at high altitude to mimic the cooling effect of volcanoes or using artificial "trees" to absorb CO2.

Despite the risk of catastrophic side-effects from geo-engineering, the study authors believe that research should continue just in case runaway warming leaves no other options.

I'm struck dumb by the absolute insanity that's allowed to pass for science in our world today.

The Earth is going to be swallowed up by the sun in around 4 billion years. These climate idiots should be spending more time researching how to get us permanently off this rock than being resigned to "tackling climate change" by eradicating 50% - 80% of the human population.

Uh, that's what they want. Control over population. Dominance over people. Force over freedom. That's what its all about.

There is no desire to "save" the planet. They want to be one's in charge. They simply desire to rule by any means they can.

Life on earth will go extinct in 100 million to 1 billion years, estimated from the current disappearance of free carbon from the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide used to exist in percents; now it is only parts per million.

At some point, if these idiots have their way, sufficient CO2 will be removed from the atmosphere to prevent plants from being able to extract it from the air. At that time, plants will die and decay, but the actual CO2 concentration will not seem to change much since it will hover around the point where plants cannot extract it, until all the plants are dead. Not every kind of plant will be affected the same; those that can extract at lower concentrations will survive longer than those that need a higher concentration.

Of course, since plants pull CO2 out of the air and convert it to forms that are usable for other organisms, the loss of plants will have a ripple effect on all other life. Fewer plants support fewer animals.

There will be significant loss of biomass before enough CO2 can be removed to be measurable. But these idiots (who are chemists, not life scientists, so do not understand the fundamental role of CO2 for the maintenance of the biomass) would happily plow ahead with plans to reduce atmospheric CO2 concentrations. They’ll hasten the end of life on earth, all in the name of saving the earth.

Who cares about the survival of a lifeless planet? Nothing we do can change the fate of the earth, anyway.

OK!! Everybody pay attention!

Lesson for today:

1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.

2. The sun is a ball of fire that controls the climates of all its planets.

3. The earth is one of the sun’s planets.

4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.

5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.

Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

I added the words in bold.

Whenever mankind has endeavored to control or manage nature, how has that worked out? More specifically, how has that gone, first time around? The answer is not good. From dams to parks, to reintroducing species.... We more or less have a track record of screwing it up, badly, the first time or two. Now, want to roll the dice on climate, global scale? Me, no. I say let nature take her course. We are far too likely to make it worse trying to make it better.

“Nothing we do can change the fate of the earth, anyway.”

Not much to disagree with here. Too bad those who think otherwise can’t tell you how they believe they are able to do so.

I think it all boils down to who is actually in charge. We acknowlege a higher power a creator smarter than the all of us put together who created a habitation called earth designed for his children.

This bountiful place created to last for as long as necessary despite anything his created could do that might appear to jeopardize the earth’s existance.

He provides everything required to not only support life but to support it in abundance as he generously gives knowledge and truth and a supportive climate, to his children that provides ever more abundance to our lives.

“Schemes to tackle climate change could prove disastrous for billions of people, but might be required for the good of the planet, scientists say.”

And that, right there, is why the government is behind this load of hot air. It’s the ultimate emergency, the “end of all discussion” excuse to take over. After all, when the choice is “a few sacrifices” vs the “potential end of the earth”, what reason do we have to object to the former? And if the sky doesn’t fall...well, the government still gets what it wants and too bad for us if we don’t agree.

And unfortunately, unlike many fake emergencies governments have used to justify dictatorship, this one has enough people piddling their undies and shutting their brain off to have a good chance of happening.

I too like to beleive my research is nessary, and should be fully funded.

That said as a 3rd party id like to say research on Geo-Engeneering like any other subject is fine but dont go overboard and dont start doing anything short of experments untill there an actual issue with the climate.

In the long run when people can actualy predict the weather accurately it will be possable to play a role in influencing it. But you cannot control that which you do not understand and cannot reliyably predict. To attempt to do so is like puting a small child behind the wheel of a car.

Well let’s see putting dust in the air to block out sunlight. Last two times I know of , Krakatoa eruption, and the Chixulub comet/asteroid impact, neither had good consequences.

Harming billions is just an unfortunate side effect of little consequence. You see, these are just the little people. The important people stand to make billions off of the schemes.

Mother nature is unchangeable by man.

Has anyone been able to change the patterns of nature - weather fronts, winds, ocean currents, tides, hurricanes, tornadoes, the seasons, etc?? Don’t mess with mother nature. It has all been carefully designed.

I was trying to explain to my daughter’s friends that global warming mostly depends on the sun, not atmospherics. They couldn’t see the relationship. Finally, I asked, “Why is it colder at night? Because the sun is down. And when the sun comes out, it warms up 20 degrees during the day. So the sun is obviously the source of the warmth - and changes in its strength matter more than fractions of carbon dioxide, though blocking sunlight cools us off a lot like after a volcanic eruption.”

And my idiotic state was in a poll where it said that 89% of us believed in Global Climate Change. First, I call bull$#!% on the poll, but still, if even half that amount was true, they are making way too much headway into the average American’s head.

In all the rhetoric, somewhere, someone is saying:

“YOU have to die, for the good of the rest of us, meaning me and my own. I get to survive, you get to die.”

Murder.

No different than it ever was... Just the excuses change.

Yup.

I've said it a number of times. I'm not worried about global warming cooling whatever.

I'm worried that some fool with too much money (Bill Gates, or Richard Branson come to mind immediately) might try to DO something about it, and really screw things up.

Atmospheric “testing” of nuclear weapons in certain middle eastern countries would help with the “shading” effort...

Planes spraying sulphur particles at high altitude. Gee. You mean the planes might leave some sort of trail of chemicals ? No. Good thing they have not been doing that for over a decade. When the inter glacial period ends and the full ice age returns, we need to erect monuments honoring the stupidity of our current western leaders.
