Does the first amendment prohibit city governments or other government entities from recognizing or observing Christmas, including appropriate displays, symbolism, quoted scripture, etc.?
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
Amen.
I am waiting for the day the states reclaim their rights under the tenth. Not holding my breath though.
Well first of all, you must get some incredible emails, Jim, which is something I never considered but seems obvious once I do.
Secondly, I’d take this half-wit atheist’s claims with a grain of salt. If anything the City used him as a cover story for a political move they decided to make on their own. City Attorneys don’t go around telling outsiders that the City had been breaking the law, especially when there’s no Court ruling behind it. And the absence of the ACLU is indicative that he had no actual case, but was making a lot of noise that the City decided to spin for its own political purposes.
