Woman Who Was Sexually Assaulted And Set On Fire In Wichita Park, Dies Of Her Injuries

The 36-year-old mother of four had suffered severe burns over more than half her body and had cuts on her head when firefighters found her November 14, naked in a park near the Wichita State University campus.

The suspect in the case, twenty-six-year-old Cornell A. McNeal, also of Wichita, was charged Friday with attempted capital murder, rape and arson. Lt. Espinoza says the charges against McNeal will now be amended to include murder.

McNeal is accused of raping, beating and setting on fire a 36-year-old woman who was walking in Fairmount Park, south of Wichita State University’s main campus, about 11 p.m. Nov. 14. He was booked into jail early Thursday on suspicion of rape and attempted first-degree murder after evidence collected by forensic nurses at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis linked him to the crime, according to police.

There are a multitude of news stories these days about the Michael Brown case because a white police officer shot an unarmed black teenager. organizations like the NAACP & the Congressional Black Caucus have called for the police officer to be indicted & convicted for a criminal act. Perhaps rightfully so. That decision rests with a Grand Jury at the moment based upon the evidence not upon the media frenzy. However, I cannot help but notice that the horrific crime mentioned above involving a black man accused of brutally attacking & killing a white woman does not garner such intense national media attention. The same demonstrators in Ferguson will likely not be demonstrating on this victim's behalf. I suspect activists will not block streets or chant with their hands held above their heads in mock surrender for this poor woman. Those activists will probably not be so quick to assume that this incident is a racially-motivated crime. And I cannot help but notice that the NAACP & the Congressional Black Caucus have not rushed to comment about this very violent crime.

I have this dream of someone introducing an air-borne truth gas at one of their hot-air tests in front of the cameras and asking that question. I envision the response on the order of; "Of course we don't mention black-on-white violence! Just like black-on-black violence, it doesn't help our victimhood strategy for re-election and reparations! Now get out of here you RAZZIST!"
