Ted Cruz Bashed on NPR as Lurching As 'Far to the Right As Possible'

NPR and Sen. Ted Cruz are natural enemies. On Friday's journalists' weekly roundup on The Diane Rehm Show, Politico reporter Alex Burns mocked Cruz for acting like a stereotypical bar bully and a man who always seeks to go "as far to the right of his party as possible." Rehm thought he sounded ridiculous.

DIANE REHM: And what about Senator Ted Cruz and what he had to say yesterday?

ALEX BURNS: Well, this is sort of a moment tailor-made for Ted Cruz, right? [Laughter.]There's nothing better for him than a moment where he can go as far to the right of his party as possible and also sort of put on the robes of Ted Cruz, constitutional scholar.

REHM And put President Obama into the role of one of the Greek philosophers, for God's sake.

BURNS Or worse. He has Obama sort of crossing the Rubicon like Caesar, right? And so this is a great, great moment for Ted Cruz -- you know, what works to Ted Cruz's advantage is that he's like the guy in the bar who always wants to start the fight, but has the friends to grab him and say, "No, no, no, buddy. Like, don't go up against that guy." Right? That he gets to show the base how tough he is, but ultimately gets restrained.

And the big question here is how restrainable is he, how restrainable is this side of the party at a moment when they feel really empowered and really angry? I think ultimately it's a tough argument that the numbers are there for that wing of the party to shut down the government, but they can certainly make things very uncomfortable for their leadership and for the president.

Funny we never see an NPR tantrum about Barry and his ‘RATS “lurching as far to the left as possible.” That’s weird. Must be an NPR communist pig thing.

Agreed. Let them self-fund their propaganda dreck. Maybe they can get their sister-network -— PMSNBC — to foot the bill.

Well, here’s a taste of what the party line will be in 2015-16. Ted Cruz the neanderthal, the ultra-right-wing bully, the enemy of all things decent and enlightened, traitor to his race.

Correct, in fact there is hardly a “smidgen” room for the left to go, but Cruz will only go as far as the Constitution allows and he is no where near that, there is yet a very long way to go.

Ted Cruz actually IS a Constitutional Scholar. Obamaumao— not much more than an instructor in summer school.

Diane Rehm is a MORON. There was nothing Greek about Cruz’s speech against obama. He paraphrased Cicero. As below:

Cruz’s speech in the Senate was about the Cataline conspiracy in Roman times. Cruz took the role of Cicero, who spoke against Julius Caesar who returned from Gaul, illegally crossed the Rubicon with his army and proceeded to BUY the great unwashed plebian and lower classes, paying their taxes and giving them money (JUST like obamaumao has done with his cronyism, EBTs, obamaumaocare, and now “legalizing” illegal aliens by dictatorial fiat). Julius Caeser was a dictator, who threatened the Roman Senate (the aristocracy for one) and bludgeoned his way to power.

And Caesar came to a bad end... at the hands of the friends of Cicero— Brutus, Cassius and many others stabbed Caesar to death.

Ted Cruz laid out, logically, penetratingly— the case against obamaumao and his illegal seizure of lawmaking by fiat. This cannot go unchallenged— it cannot, not by any Congressperson who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution. They MUST do something, first with the power of the purse— de-Fund this edict, and those who would carry it out. For starters.

Remember a few weeks ago when Van Jones admitted that the Democrats were terrified of Sara Palin, saying, "now it can be told".

They are not afraid of Jeb, Mitt etc. but they are afraid of Ted Cruz. He’s highly intelligent and tells it like it is. I don't think he can be “Katy Couriced” like Palin was because he can think on his feet. Nevertheless, they will relentlessly do everything and anything to destroy him. When we see them doing that, then we know we have our candidate, the one they believe can halt their destruction of America.

The only good part of the story is that NPR probably has some of the lowest news ratings of any channel. They are a tree falling in the woods with no one around to hear the tree fall.

I wonder if Jeb and Mitt have the slightest inkling of how much they aid and abet the destruction of the civilization they pretend to defend.

Cruz isn’t “lurching” anywhere. He has been very consistent in his conservative beliefs and has stood by his principles regardless.

I honestly couldn’t even pretend to know what they think.

I guess they breathe such rarefied air that they inherently know whatever damage comes to the republic won’t affect them much at all. Just, out of touch? Or already infiltrated by the marxists and they are just playing a role to create the illusion of a govt. of, by, and for the people.

I’d like to see NPR having to compete in the marketplace.
