Obama Puts The Republic Out Of Its Misery
The Federalist ^ | November 21 2014 | David Harsanyi

Posted on 11/21/2014 4:03:18 PM PST by Jacquerie

All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress – unless the President says otherwise.

“This is how democracy works,” Barack Obama lectured the country before giving everyone the specifics of his expansive one-man executive overreach on immigration. If you enjoy straw men but are turned off by open debate and constitutional order, this speech was for you.

Obama acknowledges his overreach openly every time he argues that he intends to do the job of an obstinate Republican congress. In his speech, Obama scolded those who question whether he has the authority to change the legal status of millions of people, offering this: “I have one answer: Pass a bill.”

Pass a bill?

1) Congress has no obligation to pass a bill. Ever. Who knows? Maybe immigration ranks 50th on the GOP’s to-do list. Maybe the GOP is dysfunctional and incapable of pulling together comprehensive legislation. Maybe the Republicans are nothing more than irrational nativists. And maybe all of that threatens the GOP’s future. That’s why we have elections for presidents to ignore.

2) If Congress passed a bill, Obama would veto it, anyway. So what Obama meant to say was, “I have one answer: Pass a bill I like.” No bill will pass, especially after this cynical ploy to prod clumsy GOPers into reactions that might benefit him politically.

No, the president didn’t kill the process all by himself. Bush did it! Reagan did it! True or not, twenty years from now, the minions of some Republican Napoleon will be screaming ‘Obama did it!’ And they’ll have a sad story or a chilling warning that will justify why it’s ok. Because all legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States – unless the president says it’s super important. Then anything goes.

Is it finally clear that elections alone cannot cure what ails our republic? That a dictator dressed as a savior is our fate?

The time is NOW for an Article V state amendments convention.

In wonder if in the future the Supreme Court will approve criminal acts due the the precedent just set. This POS can only be controlled by impeachment.

Thing is, no one wants to take charge and those who do, end up with their hands tied behind their backs, lest they ‘not play nice’ and offend the delicate sensibilities of the spoiled middle/upper middle class that elected the POS in vast numbers, but then reelected him yet again.

Impeachment should at least be initiated. The House won’t have any problem. There could be a partisan wall in the Senate leading to inability to convict. But at least the public should see that wall.

And Slow Joe? Well if he tries something like that, impeach him too. Maybe the two should be impeached together. That would be a big “effing” deal. (OK, we would get a President Boehner. Even that has to be better than Barack. We have sunk that far.)

If this goes unchecked we will be the first Nation of States to centralize power and vote on a new dictator every 4 years.

Each dictator can supersede or abolish any other dictators action.

Congress is no longer needed.

Article V convention can't and won't work for the simple reason that any amendments will be ignored by the Rats.

The problem is not the Constitution. The problem is the Rat infestation.

We must get rid of the Rats.

Secession is the only viable solution.

Without 67 votes in the Senate for conviction impeachment is a fools task. It will take millions to hit the streets in Washington to kick the POS out!

Absolutely NOT!

Do you think the current batch of pols could improve on the Founder’s work?

Do you think the Pelosi’s of the world wouldn’t take over the process?

Do you think the media would be fair minded about the debate?

The laws and the Constitution are only as good as the people that obey it.

Obama does not care about the law and the Constitution.

He would ignore whatever came out of an Article V.

We are way past using law to fix this problem. Thing is, nobody wants to face that.

The only worthwhile amendments are structural, like those proposed by Mark Levin, which cannot be ignored any easier than even year elections.

The Framers gave us peaceful means to restore freedom. It is time to use it.

“Congress is no longer needed.”

Who gives a f**k about Congress. If conservatives are too stupid to organize locally, and they may be, and punch back against the fascist federal bureuacracy, then we are doomed.

It’s about conservative idiots worrying more about their kitchen remodeling job than their children’s future.

The 17th amendment tore the heart out of the Framers’ constitution. It denies the consent of the governed, the states.

Return the states to the senate and watch senators flip off the media and never consent to another anti-10th amendment federal judge ever again.

The GOP controls 66 of 99 state houses. This window of opportunity will not last long.

Don't underestimate how much Obama and all things rat are despised.

States will send not send reps, but will send delegates with specific, detailed commissions.

CA will get one vote, just like Wyoming.

To paraphrase, as the beloved JFK said of the reviled Joe McCarthy, you might be on to something here.

Well yes it is “peaceful” as long as the people you are trying to rein in oblige.

THEY DO NOT CARE AND WILL NOT OBLIGE.

That is what we are up against.

Laws are for those that will abide by them. We have been shown that this “party” does not oblige.

Reps and senators, all popularly elected, act in their personal interest. It is natural, it is human nature.

Return the states to the senate. Senators will still look out for themselves, they will always do what it takes to satisfy their employers, a few hundred state legislators.
