Jeb Bush: Debate on Common Core 'troubling'
Politico ^ | November 20, 2014 | Caitlin Emma

Posted on 11/20/2014 3:26:00 PM PST by PJ-Comix

Potential 2016 presidential candidate Jeb Bush stood before a packed hall Thursday morning and rallied his education troops, encouraging the crowd to keep fighting the “government-run, unionized and politicized monopolies who trap good teachers, administrators and struggling students in a system nobody can escape.”

Addressing a national summit hosted by his group, the Foundation for Excellence in Education, Bush stuck to education in his keynote address. But his speech drew national media attention, reflective of a country hanging on his every word, eager to grasp onto any shred of his political ambitions.

He once again defended the Common Core, which has become a rallying cry for conservatives who see the standards as federal overreach into state education, and could prove a liability if he runs for president. And he touched on the increasingly controversial topic of testing, as school boards and districts across the country revolt against federally mandated exams.

Give it up, Jeb. You staked your reputation on Common Core and it has proven to be a LOSER. Anybody who doubts that only needs to look at actual teaching examples from Common Core. Like they take a couple of simple adding or subtracting steps in math and turn it into a Rube Goldberg type series of complex steps that make no sense.

He once again defended the Common Core....

Uh, Jeb, when are you going to understand the 10th amendment? Federalism?

I know you were a decent two term governor.

And I know you try to say CC isn't "top-down" education--but it is, sir.

We don't want ANYONE telling us how to teach our kids.

The Department of Education has been a failure.

Get rid of it.

That alone disqualifies him. Plenty of other stupidities do too.

“If we’re going to be the best country, and not just talk about it, we need to actually do the work to make it happen.  Higher standards is a key element of that, and these standards, the Common Core State Standards, are clear and straightforward, they will allow for more innovation in the classroom, less regulation, they’ll equip students to compete against their peers across the globe.”

- Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush

I have to teach Common Core and anyone that still stands by it should NEVER be president!

But his speech drew national media attention, reflective of a country hanging on his every word, eager to grasp onto any shred of his political ambitions.

Pretty sure the country couldn't give a rat's rear end if Bush runs for president - except for the GOPe, perhaps.

Interesting thing is, Jeb actually thinks defending Common Core will gain him some brownie points somewhere.

And in which party would that be Jeb?  Think maybe you're considering running for the wrong party?  We have!

Foundation in Excellence in Education??? Sounds like Soros or Microsoft are funding Bush’s campaign. More Doublespeak from the ministry of education.

All debate is troubling to shallow idealogues. The idea that someone would question their carefully implanted thoughts and conclusions is naturally disturbing to them. Because it undermines their “we know best” elitism and they know they have no skin in what they profess to be knowledgeable about.
