Enzi Plans to Oust Sessions from Budget Chair

Serving as the Ranking minority member on the Budget Committee over the past few years, Sessions has effectively used budget point of orders to tactically block big spending bills and has fought terrible budget deals proposed by both Republicans and Democrats. He has served as a one-man think tank and stalwart against amnesty and in defense of our nation’s borders, sovereignty, workers, and taxpayers. Indeed, in an era when the budget process will be the last recourse against Obama’s lawlessness, there is nobody more qualified to serve as Budget chair than Sessions.

But this thought process all assumes that other Republicans value the leadership qualities Sessions has exhibited on these critical budgetary issues. According to Congressional Quarterly, Mike Enzi, the senior senator from Wyoming, is planning to challenge Sessions for the chairmanship. And even though Enzi has not served as ranking minority member on the Budget committee or led publicly on budgetary issues, his seniority would bump Sessions from the position. This is yet another example of why the seniority system is a poor method for determining leaders. All one has to do is look at the Senate Republican conference to to quickly ascertain that conservatives are not only providing the leadership to fight against Obama, but also putting forth the conservative ideas needed to move forward. See Mike Lee and the large policy portfolio of solutions he has developed.

While Enzi is far from a liberal, he does not measure up to Sessions in terms of serving as a leader and a voice on critical issues.

This attack is brought to the GOP
by Team Romney, Rove, and McCain -—
slavers, pro-rapists, and backstabbers of conservatives.

Heard this on Rush today and wasn’t shocked. We are still grabbing our ankles and singing Moon River.

You have such a way with words, lol! Sessions is a really good guy and they should leave him the check alone!

Just noticed on Drudge how a liberal “hell no” caucus had arisen to defeat the Keystone pipeline. Now, would it not be wonderful if the Republicans could look down deep and develop the same fighting spirit? Have Republicans in the modern era ever said the words, or would the mere saying of the words cause them to faint over?

2016 is all they care about.

Soon Conservatives will be hearing how good Amnesty is for the next Presidential GOPe candidate....how we must be on board because we MUST have the Presidency to get Conservative policies.

The GOPe merry-go-round, and Conservatives still refuse to jump off.

McConnell is engineering the whole thing. Now that the GOP base has served its purpose, they can be thrown under the bus.
Be prepared for more of this. The GOPe wants Hillary, not Scott Walker.

I'm holding fire until I learn if Enzi is entitled to the chair. I believe he is. He's reportedly quite a strong conservative, though I doubt he can match Sen. Sessions.

What I will not stand for is Boehner + leadership worried that Sessions won't play ball with GOPelites, and Enzi will.

To: roses of sharon; Innovative
Liberal GOP types like Innovative mainly show up around elections (per posting history) to harass people trying to get them to vote for the liberal republicans. They need called out when crap like this happens.

Enzi and Sessions came into office in the same class. Sworn in January 3, 1997. Neither has seniority.

It will have to be a fight. Not a done deal. Best make our voices head now instead of after the fact.

We should challenge Cochran as head of Appropriations too, he just said he will NOT use the funding process to restrict Obama on immigration next year.

You are either paranoid or a Soros troll.

Enzi is a reliable conservative, as is Sesions. This is a competition between the two.

Have a drink or three.

NZI, Michael B., a Senator from Wyoming; ..... elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1996; reelected in 2002, and again in 2008 for the term ending January 3, 2015; chair, Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (One Hundred Ninth Congress).

SESSIONS, Jefferson Beauregard III (Jeff),........ elected as a Republican to the United States Senate in 1996; reelected in 2002, and again in 2008 for the term ending January 3, 2015.

This might be why Sessions has been upfront about his plans to fight immigration. He knew Enzi (or someone else) would challenge him. He is also smart enough to know a Republican respected by Conservatives and Tea Party members is not someone Mitch wants in control of am important committee.
