The starting point is getting a list of all the drugs you and any significant other might use. You go to the above website and enter your zip code and then search by the formularae you need covered. That should generate a list of providers in your area. At that point you can look at costs and compare availabilty. The confusing part can be there are so many plans available. At that point I would compare the plans that are accepted at the pharmacies you use now. That should narrow it down.
Whatever you do, now that you’re old is don’t be stupid.
Maybe I can schedule my health crises for only those years when I pay for the low deductible.
OTOH, if you are on maintenance meds, check into three-month deliveries, either by mail order or through some local pharmacies. My current health plan makes me pay two months of co-pays for three months of meds if I go through CVS. Not really fond of CVS but it will save me about $240 this way as opposed to monthly payments to my regular pharmacy.
I am no expert and did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express.
That disclaimer said, I would suspect the absolute lowest price you could find would work because if you are not taking any prescriptions, you are just paying for those who do.
If you happen to have to take some, you will get to change plans next Nov/Dec.
I am not there yet myself but aged parents are...its an adventure for a few days making sure their meds are covered at reasonable rates. W should have the D shoved up sideways for doing this.
But if not him, then zerocare would have done something similar, I imagine.
I still pay for my drugs and eschew part D because I don't use medicare, but have an advantage plan.
The plan has a drug portion, but it is in my best interests to pay for my own drugs.
But, being stupid, I'm not sure if this is the right thing, I now have an email into Gruber and Associates to find out what I should do.
I have to disagree.
People like Gruber (0bama, Clinton, Clinton, Romney, Reid, Pelosi, etc.) are not stupid. They're certainly not the geniuses they fancy themselves to be ...
Their real problem is not stupidity or incompetence. They are evil. They are power-hungry beyond belief, willfully destructive, and utterly immoral. They will lie, cheat, steal, even kill to get their way.
Face it, Americans do a terrible job electing leaders.
Still, it beats the alternative.
In one sense ,,,the point you make, I agree...they are immoral, ends justify the means, fascist sob’s who, in a world 60yrs ago would have been summarily shot or hung from light posts as Mussolini was.
But in the narrow sense re: prescription drugs, Gruber IS stupid in that he doesn’t know what he is talking about.
Not that THAT ever stops anyone of them from running their mouthes.
[As an aside, I still struggle that folks you would consider moral and decent still go along with these cretinous a-holes. Kay Hagan was not an evil woman, for example, but she was a rabid zerohissef voter 96% of the time: WHY? Why would she support such absolute lawlessness? Why did Pryor in AR? Or even Landrieu...I know she was bought to vote for zerocare...nevermind her..but you take my meaning. I just do not understand the myopia that typifies the zerohissef voter in complete disregard for our laws and constitution. ]
Ezekial Emmanual said a few weeks ago that the cut off age should be 75 yrs old..after that just drop dead..yeah that is the liberal mentality..too bad they don’t have the same belief for themselves
probably the docs.
I am not that old, and pretty healthy. My doc has a head explosion that I am not on any meds.
That suggests ignorance, not necessarily stupidity.
I'm not letting him off the hook, though. He's saying things that don't reflect the reality of prescription drug 'insurance', or any other aspect of medical practice. Possibilites abound:
1) He literally doesn't know what he's talking about, because he's too lazy to learn.
2) He literally doesn't know what he's talking about, because he lacks the requisite IQ.
3) He does know, and is being deliberately deceptive.
4) ?
Aren’t we fortunate to be watched-over and controlled by our “betters” (like this arrogant know-it-all ass, gruber)? I hope the criminal ends up in jail, has his assets seized and his family lives in poverty for a long time. In the meantime, pay back your stolen “consulting” millions, you jack-a**. I hope all living in his neighborhood shun this family of criminals. This is a family of degenerate parasites.
Important though is if your doc puts you on something (cholesterol, b/p, etc) that it be generic and covered.
I take a brand name drug (tier 4) that went from $400/mo to $750/mo in 1 year because of 'closing the donut hole - what a hoax - glad I can get samples from my doc
