Mary Landrieu and Miguel Estrada: Memory Time
American Thinker ^ | 11/14/2014 | James V. DeLong

Current news reports say that Harry Reid will allow a vote on the Keystone Pipeline so that Mary Landrieu can register her support, and thus improve her chances in the December Senate election in Louisiana, even as the Democratic majority votes it down.

The theory behind this move is the usual Democratic assumption that voters are dumb, and will not realize that the Senate vote is a charade, designed to fool them into believing that Landrieu actually supports Keystone and is not in cahoots with Harry Reid and the enviro-zealots and billionaires who back and bankroll the party.  (Even if the vote succeeds, it will represent a Democratic calculation that they will be beaten on the issue in Congress during the next session, and should retreat to the trenches of administrative delay.)

To inoculate voters against this ploy, the Republicans should revisit Landrieu’s 2002 campaign.  At the time, President Bush had nominated the distinguished lawyer Miguel Estrada, a Honduran native, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for D.C.  The assumption in political circles of both parties was that the president regarded Estrada as a potential Supreme Court Justice, and wanted to give him judicial experience to add to an already impressive resume.

The Democrats fought the nomination on racist political grounds.  They did not want Bush to be the one who named the first Hispanic Justice of the Supreme Court.

The Dems won.  They stalled the nomination process for two years and finally filibustered it to death in 2003.

Landrieu’s stance was duplicitous. During the 2002 campaign, her campaign paid for a Spanish-language radio ad asserting her support for Estrada.  After she won the election, she supported the Senate filibuster,

You have to give it to Mary. While I despise just about every position she takes, the verbal gymnastics she employs to get re-elected is truly amazing. Politicians don’t get much better than her. BTW Mary, that’s not a compliment though you may take it that way.

LOUISIANA VOTERS ARE GONNA GET GRUBERED BY LANDRIEU The theory behind the Keystone Pipeline move is the usual lib-Democratic assumption that "voters are dumb," and will not realize that the Senate vote is a charade, designed to dupe them into believing that Landrieu actually supports Keystone and that Mary is still as sweet as ever---and definitely not in cahoots with Harry Reid, enviro-zealots and billionaires who back and bankroll the Democrat party.

"Hi voters. I just did a threesome w/ Obama and Harry to get
the pipeline bill moving. That's why my mouth looks so funny."

MARY AND OBAMACARE---Lock-stepping Obama loyalist Landrieu is gonna find out real soon----LA voters did not just fall off a turnip truck.

<><> Lock-stepping Landrieu---saluting smartly---cast the deciding vote for Obamacare and parroted Obama's phony “keep your plan” pledge (media-designated the "lie of the year").

<><> Landrieu voted with Obama 99% of the time---and the prez never even dropped by to campaign for her (snix).

<><> Landrieu voted to subsidize O/Care by decimating Medicare Advantage for seniors.

<><> Landrieu and Obama calculatedly kept the gruesome details to themselves while egging on lock-stepping Democrat party loyalists to vote for O/Care.

<><> Landrieu and the WH lied to Americans in a way so specific, it showed they knew exactly what to spin and how......via the infamous "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan" lie.

<><> After she voted for Obamacare, Landrieu carried on for years, making believe she'd actually read the ACA bill, and pretending she understood its implications.

<><> Landrieu even feigned "surprised" at townhalls---by grassroots complaints about O/Care.

It’s the Democrat way: she was for Estrada before she was against him. But the voters will not be fooled come run-off day.....Landrieu will go down in flames.

When Democrat politics outway Democrat ideology.

Shameful as Obama will provide cover with a veto if by chance it passes the Senate.

How fine would it be that Reid allows a vote that passes, Obama vetoes and the new congress overrides his veto.

Is the Keystone project helpful to America or not?

We import 7.5 million barrels a day of crude oil. 3 million a day from OPEC.

I think a secure source of another 830,000 barrels a day delivered to the near-center of the US is a very good thing, not to mention the additional jobs it will bring.

baby fat mary is down 16 points in the only poll that has been taken for the 12-6-2014 run off election.

I don't know how accurate that poll is, but it represents the total number that Cassidy and Maness had in the Nov 4th election vs baby fat.

NEVER underestimate the stupidity of the low-information voter.

If there are not relentless tv ads reminding voters of what Miss Piggy did to Estrada, then the lamestream will not cover it, and no one will know. In fact, the lamestream will build her up as having ‘integrity’ on Keystone in going against her party.

Take nothing for granted, GOP, and FLOOD La. with ads to counteract the lamestream.
