Conservatives Float ‘CROMNIBUS’ Bill to Fight Obama’s Executive Actions

Conservative lawmakers are pitching a number of legislative proposals to House speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) and other House Republicans in order to avoid passing a long-term funding bill that would provide President Obama with the money he needs to implement his pending administrative amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants.

“We could essentially be green-lighting it if we do a full omnibus in the lame-duck with everything,” says a House Republicans who signed Representative Matt Salmon’s letter calling for the House to pass a continuing resolution in the lame-duck session that would prohibit Obama from implementing his executive orders.

The procedure outlined in the letter would set the stage for a lame-duck government shutdown if Obama vetoed the bill or Senate Democrats, who will control the chamber until January, block the bill.

But the House Republican, speaking anonymously about today’s Republican conference meeting and Republican Study Committee meeting say that Salmon and the other signatories see the letter’s proposal as just one way to oppose the executive amnesty.

“What we want to do is have the next Congress address the Department of Homeland Security [funding],” the lawmaker said. To that end, he said that conservatives are willing to pass a “CROMNIBUS” bill — a bill that combines several appropriations bills for specific departments (the House passed seven during this Congress that the Senate Democrats refused to vote on) with a short-term continuing resolution. The advantage of that, the Republican said, is that it would mean that a full government shutdown would not happen under any circumstances, because major areas of government, such as the Department of Veterans Affairs, would already be funded.

“I’m 100 percent supportive of getting funding in areas that are non-controversial so that we can get away from playing this stupid game,” he says, referring to the all-or-nothing continuing-resolution fight. Funding for the entire government currently expires in mid December. “Even if we end up losing on the amnesty down the road, I think people will be much happier about that process,” the representative says.

The Republican says that Boehner stayed “non-committal” in meetings today about what funding proposal he would support, even as House appropriators argued in favor of a long-term spending bill without any immigration-related language.

EXEMPT Boehner and EXEMPT McConnell will have NOTHING to do
with anything getting in the way of their Tyrant.
They are criminals who condone and enable their Tyrant.

Meaning the cowards will avoid the shutdown scenario of 2013, where Obola threatened to turn off the EBT cards and let the Gibsmedats burn all their cities down.

With McConnell taking the Senate post, the RINO/GOPe's will be in full collaborator mode come next year.

I fear you’re being way too generous! I was thinking by Christmastime. ;)

There is no one to do the hard labor in America with 95 million on welfare or disability, with no incentives to work hard, I am afraid the pols know this is the only way to get manual labor back and up and running again. Look at who is cleaning up the trash from the interstates. None are black or blond haired with blue eyes.

Amnesty is a foregone conclusion. Just give them work visas and not citizenship or the right to vote.

Let’s tell King Obama that he is not going to let illegals stay here. He is not - though he think he is - a dictator.

The crony capitalists in Venezuela got to emigrate to Miami when the SHTF.

Where will the crony capitalists in the US emigrate to when their screw-the-working-middle-class policies result in a similar situation here?

According the media, government funded scientists , and democrats the polar ice caps should have melted by now so Antarctica would be the place to go. so pack now liberals/democrats you promised the ice caps would be melted by this year.

Of course global warming is a hoax and there is more ice than ever in Antarctica . so that’s another lie from the news media

They should begin by passing standalone funding bills for EACH of the following: Social Security, AFDC and family services, unemployment benefits, military operations, Homeland Security and ANY service which directly impacts the citizen. And they must be vocal about their bills. Every Republican who appears in front of ANY camera must speak repeatedly about the funding bills which assist actual real AMERICANS that are waiting for the president to sign, or is waiting for Harry Reid to bring to the floor. Every opportunity, every interview, every show. Americans must know that the money is IN the pipeline but for the president’s signature, or Reid’s heartlessness.

There hasn’t been a “full shut down” of government, ever, as far as I know.

Under a so-called shutdown, only about 15% of government services stop, as far as I recall.

This could be used to our advantage, as people realize that nothing happens under a "government shutdown." The term would become a running joke as an empty threat.

They used those that were shut down, to shut down the memorials and parks, so it was probably just a reallocation of resources.

As I recall all those effected, were promised they would get their full back pay. Shut Down = Paid Vacation, pretty neat.
