I was close to beginning this article by saying only in New York. Sadly, that’s not true. There are a number of states today with some truly horrible gun laws and attitudes toward Second Amendment rights. But the Empire State is still right up near the top of that list and this story won’t do much to improve our reputation.
Buffalo, New York police are now visiting the homes of those recently departed in search of firearms as part of a new plan to help keep tabs on local guns.
The move, put into effect by Police Commissioner Daniel Derenda, is described as an effort to stop firearms, specifically handguns, from winding up back in circulation and off the books.
“We recently started a program where we’re cross referencing all the pistol permit holders with the death records, and we’re sending people out to collect the guns whenever possible so that they don’t end up in the wrong hands,”

Outright theft of estates by police, robbing private citizens who may be heirs to valuable property.

"Collect"? Or take an item that someone paid for without due process of the law. This is disgusting. It is Fascism.
My cousin was a retired Buffalo PD detective. My aunt was going to give me his firearms because I am still in law enforcement in Arizona.
I was astonished to hear they actually took his firearms from her, even though she was going to give them to me. No idea what they did with them.
Normally I’m concerned about burglars coming to the home. I don’t see the police worried about protecting the jewelry and silverware.
It's patently obvious that what they mean by "the wrong hands" is PRIVATE hands.

If you know someone is about to die, take the firearms and move them. This confiscation of someone’s estate without recompense will escalate until someone enforces the 5th Amendment.
I’d think a lawsuit or ten might slow this down.

Cops are acting like downright mafia these days. Can’t wait for the bootlickers to defend this....let’s see how they justify it.
Registration always leads to confiscation!
Once again, trapped in a bizarre schism of simultaneously supporting the police and needing to ventilate them if they even attempt such a thing near me.
The NRA warned that gun registration would lead to confiscation. Gun control means the state controls the guns and the Second Amendment is dead.
