Obama’s China trip exceeds expectations with wins on climate change, trade

Expectations were low when President Obama started his China trip Monday, less than a week after Democrats were trounced in the midterm elections.

Yet upon his departure Wednesday from Beijing, Obama could claim some trophies from his visit: He’d landed several agreements with his hosts, including a first-ever commitment by China to control its greenhouse gas emissions.

“I would describe this as the most successful multilateral summit of his presidency,” said Aaron Connelly, a research fellow in the East Asia program of Lowy Institute in Australia. He said it was impressive that the White House had been able to nail down some deals late in Obama’s visit to Beijing, as opposed to having concluded them days or weeks earlier.

A win on climate change? Hmmm, they don’t do a darn thing until 2030, but we start NOW? How is that a win? That is bend over and take it in the tush from China IMO.

He landed trophies. Yup, that’s what he did. He committed the US to decrease emissions and shut down our energy industry while China and Russia could expand their fossil fuel development.

Nice trophy.

If Republicans don’t cut all funding to these unconstitutional decrees, they should be replaced in 2016.

Only in the sense that one’s expectations were that he would do something stupid. In that sense he exceeded my expectations.

As usual, 0bama gave away the ranch. This is what the country gets when its leader’s only bargaining and negotiating skill is in the buying and selling of cocaine.

this is like the deal GOP Congress got with OBama. Promised spending cuts in the distant future and when in a few years renege on that deal
