Christmas and Easter have been stricken from next year’s school calendar in Montgomery County. So have Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashanah.
Montgomery’s Board of Education voted 7 to 1 Tuesday to eliminate references to all religious holidays on the published calendar for 2015-2016, a decision that followed a request from Muslim community leaders to give equal billing to the Muslim holy day of Eid al-Adha.

IMHO, the best decision is to make no decision and leave the calendar the way it was.
School boards, by and large, are wussies.

Islam was just an excuse for them to take out all religion. To appease the atheists.

They aren’t wussies. They wanted to take out Christmas from the beginning. Muslims just gave them an opportunity.
Christians need to start suing thee school districts for denigrating their religious holiday. It’s becoming illegal to even talk about Christmas or Easter.
These hateful little groups are working to take the fun and love out of America. Why do we continue to let them. Every parent in that school should be in the board’s face, stop the madness.

This is so sad - to see the demise happen right before my eyes. Why TF did they move here knowing what and how we celebrate things....so I deduce they moved here TO TAKE OVER! Get them all out of the United States of America.
I think this is afoolish decision,but it is their decision,not mine. However,many of us not living close to Montgomery County may have no idea where this is. Wishing these articles would give a little more information as to where these places are for the benefit of out-of-state readers.
Its the Communist county of Montgomery in Maryland, located 25 miles northwest of DC, and infested with government employees.
This fake "holy day" is based upon a lie - that Abraham took ISHMAEL, NOT Isaac to be sacrificed. The Bible makes clear this is impossible, as it happened nearly 30 years after Ishmael and Hagar were banished, and Abraham never saw him again. The funny thing is that the Koran does not even mention Ishmael's name, just says "Abraham's son was to be sacrificed", and Islamic scholars disagree on who it is. YET our schools are supposed to close for this fakery? Insane.
Next up, banning all pork products and requiring female genital mutilation.

How tough would it have been to add the top couple moon at celebrations. I guess that would have opened the door to everyone else. We could just add the solstice and Equinox dates. That is around where most of them fall. Out town gets Good Friday off. They are going have a tough time explaining that day off!
And so Ramadan would forever be known as That Fasting Thingie in Montgomery County . . .

no, the school board used this as an excuse to take days off from their Christian students.
Yes, the Muslim kids should be allowed off for Eid, the Jewish students for Yom Kippur and the Christian students for Good Friday. Christmas is a secular and a religious holiday, so why eliminate that one?
Here in the Philippines, the banks and schools are closed for Eid and several other Muslim holidays because ten percent of the kids are Muslim.
So they need to make a policy: x percent of the kids celebrate a holiday, close the school down. If it is a smaller percentage, just let them take off without penalty while keeping school open.
