I was just at a Vet Day parade where they put Anzio and D-Day vets in German cars and veterans of the South Pacific in Japanese cars to drive the parade route.

It can be looked at in a different way.

Our enemies from WWII have now been converted into some of our best allies. Two totalitarian regimes have been converted into democracies with free market economies that are a boon to the world.

Sure. A woman I work for who’s family died in Sachsenhausen drives her Mercedes to watch films about the holocaust. However, it took a long, long time for my father to accept anything Japanese after his experience in WWII and I know he was not the exception. I think it is assuming to place a vet of the ETO in “THe People’s Car” aka a Volkwagen.
