Obama, the false prophet
In 2005, then-Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, followed more adamantly and boldly by current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since then, identified the danger to the West posed by Iran's nuclear program. Netanyahu has refuted Iran's claim that its program is for peaceful purposes. A country sitting atop massive oil wells does not need to invest billions of dollars, at the expense of its own people's welfare, in nuclear reactors, centrifuges and uranium enrichment.
Many experts in the Unites States and some senior Israeli defense establishment officials argued passionately that Netanyahu was a doomsayer protesting too vociferously. A few short years later, it became clear that the danger was clear and present. Anyone who sees what the Islamic State group has accomplished with pickup trucks, knives and machine guns can understand the significance of a country armed with a nuclear weapon, a country that subcontracts and operates a complex terrorist network around the world to do its bidding.
This danger was recognized by the late former Prime Minister Menachem Begin, who ordered the airstrike to destroy the nuclear reactor at Osirak in Iraq. "Peace" loving Israeli leaders opposed the strike and tried stopping it, as did foreign elements. Years later, everyone admitted the airstrike was of critical importance. When will some of these opinion leaders in Israel understand already that Jews cannot gamble with their very existence? The Holocaust taught us that we cannot gamble with our security, that Jews have never been given the chance to place a second bet.
It is now becoming clear that the West's negotiations with Iran are missing the mark. A rich and extensive history of bartering in Middle Eastern bazaars has provided Iran with abilities that Western countries do not possess. The U.S. is easing the sanctions, and it will very likely allow Iran, within the framework of an international agreement, to be a nuclear threshold state. Within a short matter of time, Iran will be able to arm itself with a menacing nuclear weapon. The U.S. is misappropriating its responsibility toward its allies and is turning Western citizens into the hostages of violent madmen.
And again, like many times throughout history, "Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak" (Genesis 32:25). It now appears the U.S. president has made a strategic decision with far-reaching consequences -- to sell Israel's security, to abandon America's closest friend, all in exchange for the small profit of allegedly accomplishing something in the fight against the Islamic State group.
Barack Obama is furious. Every place the U.S. has intervened militarily and diplomatically has been left in disarray. Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan and Egypt are examples of American helplessness. A magnificent and strong world power, the likes of which the world has never seen, cannot tell the difference between the good guys and bad guys, between the righteous and the wicked. Obama's domestic policies have also been exceedingly disappointing to those who saw him as a savior. His campaign trail speeches provided the audience a type of religious, mystical experience. The dream has evaporated, only a false prophet has remained.
Now, with the clouds above him turning dark, he has chosen to lift his staff in anger against the State of Israel. People with a limited understanding will blame this on Obama's lack of chemistry with Netanyahu. When it comes to matters of the utmost importance, the personal relationship between leaders ceases to become significant. As usual, it is easy to blame Israel for the world's ills.
Since the dawn of its establishment, Israel has been the most threatened country on the planet. From May 14, 1948 up until today, Israel has had to fight time and again for the right of its citizens to exist in peace and security. While Israel has made significant concessions in efforts to make peace, reality has always come back to slap it across the face.
It is obvious to all that the Palestinian leadership wants to see one state between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, which will one day integrate into an Islamic caliphate. Either out of diplomatic blindness or obstinate cynicism, the U.S. is liable to lend its hand to the delusional endeavor of establishing a Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, which is the first step in the multi-phased plan to eradicate Israel.
So, as always, we will stand together, hearts united, to defend ourselves. We will never again be frail and weak, we have been so enough. Now, "A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel" (Numbers 24:17).
Never Again!
