Judge upholds Guantánamo’s treatment of hunger-striker waiting to go

GUANTANAMO BAY NAVY BASE, CUBA -- A federal judge has refused to intervene in the forced-feeding of a hunger-striking prisoner awaiting his transfer from the war-on-terror prison, declaring that U.S. military medical staff do not show deliberate indifference to the health and welfare of long-held captive Abu Wa’el Dhiab.

“The evidence produced at the hearing regarding pain was very mixed,” Judge Gladys Kessler wrote in her 20-page decision the up-to twice-daily insertion of a feeding tube into the 43-year-old Syrian’s stomach through his nose. “There is evidence in the record, including Mr. Dhiab’s medical chart, that he often tolerates the procedure without complaints of pain or significant discomfort.”

Furthermore, she said in the decision issued late Friday, “there is simply no evidence” that U.S. troops use a restraint chair that immobilizes his limbs and head during the feedings “in order to deliberately cause him pain or suffering.”

Rather, she noted, Guantánamo records indicate that since April 1, 2014 the detainee has hit and kicked medical and guard staff, threatened murder and thrown his feces and vomit on some guards.

It would be a lot cheaper to force feed all the detainees a barrel’s worth of hot smoking lead.

I don’t care how bad this sounds.

I would grind them all for intel in the most horrific manner, then shoot and bury them.

Wage TOTAL WAR or surrender.

Wage TOTAL WAR or surrender.

We won the war in Korea but were not willing to wage total war. Look at the mess it made since then and currently.

We won the battles in Vietnam but lost the war due to lack of political will in Washington DC.

We won the war in Iraq and Afghanistan but are currently losing those countries to radical Islam due to a lack of political will in Washington DC.

IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO KILL YOUR ENEMY AND ALL THAT STAND WITH HIM SURRENDER, FOR HE HAS ALREADY DEFEATED YOU!

Let him starve himself if that’s what he wants.

Wait a dang minute there. I thought we were now waging a kinder gentler war. You know. Kill ‘em with kindness? Friggin’ insanity. As awful and unsettling as it is, you’re either in it for success or don’t waste time, money and most of all our youngsters doing it. Now, we “draw down” and leave behind gear that eventually gets used against us in another round of kid glove handling of BS.

We should use science against this malefactor, by including a big dose of Splenda sweetener in his feeding tube diet.

“Splenda is comprised of the high-potency artificial sweetener Sucralose (1.1%) and the fillers maltodextrin and glucose. With extended use, the numbers of total anaerobes, bifidobacteria, lactobacilli, Bacteroides, clostridia, and total aerobic bacteria were significantly decreased; however, there was no significant treatment effect on enterobacteria.”

Enterobacteria are strongly associated with weight gain. So by giving him an s-load of Splenda as “sweetener” for his food, it would not only strongly reduce his helpful nutritional bacteria, which would make room for the enterobacteria to grow, but it would make him maximize his fat weight gain.

In a year or more of “starvation” he would end up looking like an Arabic Chris Farley. It would do wonders for his terrorist cred, especially if we spread the rumor that he was both feasting and laying information about his terrorist buddies.

They all should be force fed the same way this prisoner is. And they should use minced pork.

Maybe a barrel of hot smoking lard first.

Slide a tray through the door, three times a day. If he eats, fine. If he doesn’t, fine.

Amen to both comments.

These people aren’t playing around, and we do at our own peril.

It’s all very simple IMHO.
