IIRC the red=republican meme was due to a USA today map from election 2000.
Red has always been associated with communism, the reds in Russia, etc.
That is the way it should be. The democrats/Marxists are more closely associated with red.

Once again vindicated. Sometime around 15 years ago they chaged it wholesale. Used to be standard was blue Repubs and Red Dems.
Which was appropriate, because they ARE Red Commies.
I think media etc realized that association and started flipping it.
As a young person I remember us being blue. Much more pure than the bloody commie dems.
That may have been but I am sure you have noticed that now any political map from any other source and all media uses red for Republican and Blue for Dems.

That is the way it used to be. He archives, and did not want to change things midway which would confuse those pouring over the site itself. He started this before the brainwashing attempt by media to distance Dems from the red color of commies.
I agree with that. Always thought they were misrepresented. Commies were always red. Kabuki for sure.

No it is not stupid. We were always the blue or at least were two thirds of the time prior to 2000, when the media, including Fox reversed things and made our victories red on all political maps. Democrats are the true reds, true communists, and this was a propaganda victory for them.
That may well be BUT now today it is this way.I am a strong conservative who voted Republican and I have never thought of using red connect the GOP is any way to communism.
If you ask people how many would you think would say Republicans embrace communistic ideals?
If that was the media strategy , to tie Pubs communism it failed.
But now that the color association is pretty well established it is confusing to go back.
Having red associated with the GOP shouldn’t bother anyone.
Not so much about associating Rep with commies, but DISassociating Dems with commies. The history is strong - red flags literally, and “better dead than Red”, Red Chinese, etc. I think media/Dems realized this and thought “we better change just in case”. It is subliminal.
Not to equate Republicans with communism, but to excuse the Democrats and always give them the cool color.
Wrong. It should bother EVERYONE. Red is totalitarian left.
