“One day he will run into the wrong guy to harass and intimate..”

Unlikely. I believe these Cowards are careful about who they sneer at and slap. I know plenty of guys whose instantaneous reaction, cop or not, would have been to deck him.

The guy should consider himself lucky he was not killed. In my opinion, he came within a gnat’s eyelash of being killed. If he had moved a muscle while being slapped around, I think that he would look like a piece of Swiss cheese by now. They would not have buried him, they would have just sent him to the foundry to be melted down he would have had so much lead in him. But the sickening part is that they are those on this forum that not only condone the police treating people in this manner, they cheer them on.

It wouldn’t bother me one bit if some citizen put him out of our misery.

In NYS, that’s not assault. My guess is he’ll be hit with some charges, be docked vacation days and be allowed to retire quietly with his pension instead of the big send off he would have gotten.

THe problem is the deputy, and to some extent the culture around him that has turned him into what he is now.

There is a culture eminating from Washington D.C. and in this deputy’s case Albany (via Andrew Cuomo) about self preservation, and the sanctity of policing. Everyone is a suspect, everyone is guilty, his refusal to submit is an indicator of his guilt or so the thinking goes.

The money quote from the detainee is “ I was not even driving when ...” whatever started in incident began. As such the vehicle was not part of the investigation until the deputy demanded to search it without a warrant.

A slap in the face isn’t assault? What is it called?

Nope, us "bootlickers" agree this Sargent is trying to shortcut the law. In fact he tried to goad the young man into fighting back so he could secure an resisting arrest provocation. The kid handled it correctly and his buddy had a camera to prove what this idiot did. He will get his just dues, which will be assault charges. The County will be sued and lose.

Is he a bad apple? Hard to tell. He clearly was having a bad day. As for his partner, I didn't see one, more than likely under ranked him and thus kept his mouth closed.

Look all cops are not the good guys, but conversely they are not all bad.

That is the point of the "bootlickers" as you want to call us. When there is definitive proof I, for one, have no qualms about meting out the justice that is deserved. When there is no proof I have to defer to the policeman. Does that make me wrong sometimes. Absolutely.

Just for your information, I was in the same position as this young man, when I was a young man, and the results were much worse for me. I was attacked by several police officers. This assault occurred over an extended period of time. From the scene of stop, in the paddy wagon, and the in the jail cell. They got so concerned they finally took me to the hospital to get cleaned up. At the hospital I refused treatment. This caused them such great consternation that they began threatening me with further abuse when they got me back to the jail. I told them they are welcome to kill me when they get back to the jail if that is their desire, then my father can be a wealthy man and you guys can spend the rest of your miserable lives in jail for killing me. So they had to rethink their way out of this predicament they had placed themselves in. Their solution was to throw me in a holding cell with a big black guy that was making lots of noise. He was handcuffed to the bed when I was first put in there. I told the guy to STFU, which I am sure the cops knew I would do after an hour of listening to this guy go off. Once I had done that then they came in and let the guy out of his handcuffs and he proceeded to wail on me. They ley him have about 10 minutes with me before coming in and "rescuing" me. I might add that this guy was considerably bigger and more muscular than I was.

Boy, are you mixed up. What happened here is the citizen assaulted the cop's hand with his face.

As slap CAN be assault. If it results in an injury. That video shows harassment. Harassment may include physical contact including a punch, slap, or kick. If there is no physical sign of injury (or a complain of pain) then it does not reach the level of Assault 3, which is a misdemeanor.

Technically if this guy had said, you just slapped me and my face is now red and swollen and it hurts, it could have been assault. And then the cop would have said it was necessary force due to the suspect resisting. Which the video shows to be false. I'm all in favor of filming the police. I've been filmed numerous times in the course of my duties. It has actually helped in some instances.

“There are a lot of good cops out there.”

So which one arrested this fat bastard for assault, violation of civil rights, etc? Not a single one of those supposedly good cops arrested this bad cop, which means none of them are good cops. They are all one the side of bad cops, which makes them also bad cops.

There are a lot of good cops out there.

True...lots of them, especially the local ones

The problem is far too many think themselves junior Judge Dread that could care less about the rights of the citizen...

My middle aged 50's wife driving a Camry was pulled over by a cop for speeding, three other cops showed up, four cops to investigate...

I happen to drive by and stop to see what was going on...

I was treated like a criminal asking why was my wife pulled over...threatened with arrest if I didn't leave...

Never got an answer to why it took four cops to give a middle aged women a speeding ticket...

The law gives cops the benefit of the doubt. Obviously it’s not ideal in all situations, but you have to legislate for society as a whole, not the individual. You can’t stop bad cops from getting hired, you can only try to minimize their damage.

Yeah, in the end, that’s all that matters to them.

If you ever want the cops to show up as quick as they can, yell something about “officer down” during the 911 call.
