This is an opinion piece from CNN, but it also shows at least one leftist who gets it.
Mia has the potential to be a rising star in the Republican Party. Few people have a more positive attitude than she does......let's hope DC does not change that.

The interview and the article are both an impressive shift in direction for CNN. Mia Love is a wonderful interview. She's articulate, sincere, and having a real understanding of American values. Raised in Brooklyn by Haitian parents, college in CT, a proud resident of Utah, traditional American values, refusing to identify as black or a woman.... Leadership potential, for sure.
With Love in the HOR and Ernst in the US Senate, there are FINALLY some women in DC who've earned our respect.

The media would be wise not to be mean to her. I think she is going to be the adored little sister / daughter to just about all conservative males. And we know what kind of butt kicking that can get you.

It is progress, but Mr. Granderson still believes in the lies and tropes strewn by the Dems over the last 50 year. I sincerely hope the scales drop from HIS eyes. It seems he really struggled with himself to write this essay.
“For if the sexist/racist/anti-immigration narrative that has long dogged the GOP can, at the very least, be challenged by her presence at a campaign, what will Democrats use to fire up low-information liberals? ... Not to mention that Love (along with South Carolina’s Tim Scott, the first black senator elected in the South since Reconstruction) is an affront to those Republican voters who do harbor racist thoughts.”
Dogged the GOP? Why is that?
Republicans who harbor racist thoughts? Playing the race card himself.
Maybe he can mature himself.

I must point it out that Mia and her family are Caribbean blacks. They have a strong sense of fsmily and conservative culture. This is quite different from gangsta rappers. She can it be clubbed with those people. Many whites can be clubbed with the gangsta rappers but not Mia
