The difference Between Democrats and Republicans (vanity)

Posted on 11/07/2014 10:59:55 AM PST by ImJustAnotherOkie

This is an excerpt of an excerpt on Drudge from GWB's book.

In a chapter titled "DIPLOMACY," the son recounts an anecdote about Watergate:

"The final straw came on August 5, 1974. The Supreme Court had ruled that the White House must turn over all the tapes to Leon Jaworski, the new Watergate special prosecutor and a friend of Dad’s from Houston. The tapes revealed that Nixon had spoken to one of his aides about thwarting the FBI’s investigation into the Watergate break-in. That was proof that he knew about the cover-up and that he had lied to the country. The revelation shattered Dad’s trust in Nixon.

"The day after the smoking-gun tape became public, Nixon held a meeting with his Cabinet and key political advisers. Dad attended the meeting and witnessed a surreal scene in which the President spent the meeting talking about the economy and other policy issues rather than confronting the only question that really mattered. Later that day, Dad gave Nixon’s Chief of Staff, Alexander Haig, a candid assessment. After speaking to some of his old friends in Congress, he had learned that the President would not have the votes to survive an impeachment proceeding.

"Despite his deep disappointment, my father refused to condemn Nixon publicly. While he might have benefited in the short run, Dad saw little point in “piling on,” as he put it. He voiced his opinion privately in a letter to the President on August 7. As far as I know, he is the only party Chairman in American history who has ever written such a letter.

"'I now firmly feel that resignation is best for this country, best for this President,' he wrote. 'I believe this view is held by most Republican leaders across the country.' Writing with his characteristic sympathy, Dad continued, 'This letter is made much more difficult because of the gratitude I will always have for you. If you do leave office, history will properly record your achievements with a lasting respect.' The next day, President Nixon announced that he would resign."

The difference is when the Democratic President Obama does worse than Nixon, repeatedly by orders of magnitude, the Democrats are not shocked but cover it up.

There is no doubt in my mind the Democrats are corrupt beyond redemption and must be crushed.

The 'rats are all about the ends justifying the means. They convince themselves that it is OK to steal elections and lie and cheat because it's not really wrong if it keeps the evil republicans from power.

However, if Nixon's tapes had not become public, he would not have had to resign.

It’s true he didn’t resign until they became public but none the less he did resign.

BJ Clinton’s refusal to resign contributed to Al Gore’s loss; he came in with Dems holding all the cards and left with them holding none (Obama seems headed for the same fate).

As the party of losers and deviants, there is no incentive to resign; the fact that the national party pays a price means nothing to the egomaniacs they run for president.

What is so infuriating and frustrating, is that they feel their methods are justified because they are superior beings. Anyone who does not agree with them is either:

A) Stupid.
B) Greedy - only in it for the money they have or desire.
C) Power hungry - They take from B to take advantage of A.

Once one is convinced that all Republicans/Conservatives fall into the above categories, then lying and cheating no longer is an issue.

2banana’s Rule:

Conservatives are more than happy under the same laws/taxes they want for everyone else.

Liberals/Progressives expect to be exempted from the laws/taxes they want for everyone else.

It is the difference between good and evil. Evil people never shocked when one of their own does something despicable.

What republicans mean when they say “politics” democrats think of as selling out. What democrats mean when they say “politics” republicans think of as corruption.

My father and others at that time asked themselves why Nixon did not just destroy the tapes. To this day they do not understand why he didn’t.

Throughout the century, in cases like this, presidents always got away with claiming "executive privilege". They still do. Nixon's tapes is the only example in which this was denied.

What I always find hilarious, is that Nixon was one of the most liberal Republican Presidents of all time. Wage/price controls, EPA, War on Drugs, did nothing to stop the federal leviathan or cut taxes. Yet the Dimmies still hated him, with a passion I might add.

You need to add “D. Racist” to your list. All Republicans are racist at heart and make all of their decisions, choices and policies based on their racism and bigotry against minorities.

The difficulty in trying to call out and chastise democRATS about their lying, cheating and stealing, is that they cannot be shamed like normal people can. That’s because they have no shame. So going that route has no effect on them. I remember when Clinton got caught lying about “I did not have sex with that woman, Ms. Lewinsky”, I was appalled and sure it would do him in and be the end of his credibility and leadership of the country. But the exact opposite happened. Remember all those democRATS that rallied behind him and supported him like nothing had happened at all? I was taught that shame was the biggest roadblock to bad behavior. Unfortunately, that doesn’t work when the person has no values or a moral compass.Conservatives play this political game with the liberals with one had tied behind our backs because we play fair. They do not.

Democratic Leadership has been hijacked by Sociopaths who recruited other like minded sociopaths to perpetuate their power. Republican’s have issues too. We’ll have to see how that plays out, but with the Dems it’s a done deal.

It’s not unlike the Islamic Terrorist’s who are the face of Muslim’s now. It’s no wonder the Dems are reticent to point to Islamic Terrorist’s and come clean about what it is all about.

“My father and others at that time asked themselves why Nixon did not just destroy the tapes. To this day they do not understand why he didn’t.”

My opinion and my opinion only: President Richard Milhous Nixon did not destroy the tapes because he and others in his administration truly believed that the whole Watergate issue WAS, in fact, about national security.

They were, after all, trying to keep a known communist, ( namely, McGovern ) out of the White House.

I have heard others say that that can’t be the case because Nixon won the election. His administration did not know, during the Watergate time-frame, that he was going to win.

Look at all the “Christians” who kept supporting Obama even after the incredibly egregious preaching he sat under. Without knowing a thing about what his preacher was preaching.

getting so NONE of them are worthy.
Some go in with (maybe) good, fresh ideas, but then get told if they don’t toe the ‘party’ line, they will be relegated to the back of the bus, worst offices, worst committees and the party will go about destroying them come reelection time.

One of my ‘favorite’ difference between Liberal and Conservative is

A Lib and Conservative are walking down the beach and see some guy floundering about 75 feet out.
The Conservative runs and gets 50 ft of line and tosses it out “Swim in and I will pull you ashore”.
The Liberal runs and gets 100 ft of line and tosses it out...

The LIB then runs up the beach to do another ‘good deed’.

The only ‘loser’ here is the floundering swimmer, he gonna ‘die’ no matter which of the groups offers help.
