We Didn't Elect You to Work With the Democrats

Tom Hank's character, playing Captain John H. Miller, in Saving Private Ryan tells the rescued soldier, "Earn this."

It's a moving an emotional unexpected scene. Lives were lost to save one man. From this point on, what will he do with this life as others have given their lives for him.

While not as dramatic, yesterday's election romp over the Democrats is an "earn this" moment for the GOP. Millions of dollars and countless hours were spent helping these Republicans get elected.

Now that they have it, what are they going to do with it? They need to watch this so they can an idea how we feel about what comes next.

Leon H. Wolf at Red State has a great article on the topic: "Dear Republicans: No One Elected You to Work with Democrats."

As the reality of a Republican wave became imminent last night, a dangerous narrative began to take hold among the conservative talking heads on cable news and in the victory speeches of the victorious Republicans. The narrative was that now that the Republicans have control of both chambers of Congress, it is incumbent upon them to work with Obama and the other Democrats in the service of “getting things done” and “fixing the broken system.”

My hope is that Republicans reject this patent nonsense for the poppycock that it is. Not only should Republicans not work closely with Democrats, they should instead keep them as far away as possible, preferably across a large moat filled with sharp stakes, acid, and alligators. That way, our side will be safer from friendly fire when we launch the flaming tar at the remaining Democrats in office.

Let us review the bidding. Republicans ran this year on very little of substance. Their brand ID is still very

I don’t want them working with Democrats. I want them to stop them. I want them to start turning this ship around.

In other words, from the Dem perspective, I want more gridlock. I want a government shutdown. I want departments defunded.

What should Congress do from now until Obama is gone?

Call his every bluff. Hand him every bill that the House has passed in the last 4 years, whether he signs them or not. Advertise that fact. Stop every attempt to nominate any judges.

He will continue to campaign so we should too. If Congress has the time and feels like impeaching him it probably would fill some time.

We have existed for six years without a real president. It won't hurt to wait two more years for him to implode on his own.

We all need to resist him to his face. That is the only way to handle a bonafide psychopath.

I want Hussein impeached. I want Eric Holder imprisoned. I want Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid put on trial. I want HusseinCare repealed. I want the EPA and the Department of Education/Energy abolished. I want Boehner fired. I want voter ID in every state and no early voting. I want the border shutdown and all illegals deported. I want all Mosque's within our nations border at the very least given a complete inspection for weapons/explosives. I want any and all foreign aid terminated immediately.

I am sure I can think of a few more......

Working with Democrats has caused us to drift left for decades and put us where we are now. The GOP needs to grow a set and LEAD!

...”The GOP needs to grow a set and LEAD!”....

That would depend on who becomes the Leaders now. I tend to think there will be great gaps on who that should be. They want to show unity among them when we all know that is not the case. Will be interesting to see how and who does become the leaders. I have my own idea of who that should be.

Krauthammer’s idea was a good one: ONE BILL PER WEEK; and Rush added: MAKE IT IMPORTANT BY HOLDING A PRESS CONFERENCE AND EXPLANING WHAT THE BILL IS ABOUT; SHOW THE DATA YOU HAVE ON THE PUBLIC’S SUPPORT .. AND THEN LET THE PRES VETO IT. Boehner has already said that with our new additional repubs, we should be able to override some of the vetos. PERFECT ..!!!!!

This will force “O” to sign SOME things .. but those he doesn’t sign will become an albatross around his neck.

Exactly what we want ..!!!!!!!

The narrative was that now that the Republicans have control of both chambers of Congress, it is incumbent upon them to work with Obama and the other Democrats in the service of “getting things done” and “fixing the broken system.”
And that's already been shot down, destroyed on the ground. The main problem going forward will be Zero's veto, and that will mean choosing the battles they can win, to keep imposing that Lame Duck / Spoiled Entitlement Brat / Affirmative Action Success Story label on his sorry ass. A lesser problem will be the internet trolls who immediately try to shift the narrative toward how bad Republicans are.

I badly want to be optimistic, but prior experience has taught me that the high we have after a GOP victory ends in a catastrophic crash.

I voted R because I wanted them to oppose D, not to be almost D.
Gridlock is good for the country.
If the republicans do nothing but say HELL NO! to all of the democrat crappy bills for the next 2 years, that is a win in itself.
You don't have to play along, you don't have to compromise, you don't have to "get something done" by passing legislation that will please absolutely no one.
What you have to do is to stand on principle, show what R stands for and write GOOD legislation, even if 0bama will never sign it.

First - we need to secure the borders. If democrats won’t go along with that we need to call them obstructionists....

I’m sure the press will tell democrats that they must WORK with US.
