The Tea Party has "completely captivated and ruined" the Republican Party, and will doom the party's chances of reclaiming the presidency unless it is checked, says Jon Huntsman, Sr.
The billionaire and one-time adviser to President Richard Nixon weighed in on the state of the GOP Tuesday in an interview with Yahoo Finance.
He recommended that the party turn to a candidate such as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush or his son, Jon Huntsman, Jr., the former governor of Utah and U.S. ambassador to China who ran in the Republican primary for the 2012 nomination and was widely perceived as a moderate.
"Unless a Jeb Bush comes in, or Jon Huntsman Jr., the Republicans don't have a prayer," said Huntsman, Sr.
Huntsman, Jr. has not indicated any plans to run again for the GOP nomination, although his father said "I wish he'd listen to his father and would run. He's just a bright, wonderful, decent individual who brings people together, who's unifying." He also acknowledged, however, that Republican primary voters are not likely to nominate his son, having overlooked him in the last election. "I doubt he'll be embraced too heavily by the Tea Party gang," he said.

He really looks like a mega-re7ard today.
Note: Glenn Beck breaks bread with this guy on a regular basis. Ally of the Tea Party? I think not!
RINO for sure.
Tea Party was THE energetic base that turned out and won big for Republicans.
If their message is sent, 2016 will look like the last two presidential elections and there may be a third party to really split the Republican vote.
His boy is a ZeroBot bootlicker masquerading as a Republican.
Maybe partisanship will eventually be transcended, not at the top, with David Brooks, Gloria Borger and Jon Huntsman imposing a Beltway consensus they hammer out at an Atlantic panel, but at the bottom, where less sleek figures like Brat, Phyllis Schlafly and Jeff Sessions, can make common cause with Democratic workers whove gotten the short end of previous top-down triumphs such as global trade and Reagans 1986 amnesty, as well as of ineluctable technological trends like automation.

No bias here, just the facts.

Co religionist.
Oh yeah, more RINO's, that's what we need. /s
Your son left the party, shite head.
Yes, let’s run another candidate like Jeb or Romney or Junior. It has worked so damn well. Sorry Mr. Huntsman. You can keep your money. There are far too many qualified candidates who actually stand for something other than wanting to be liked by the MSM who are ready to step up and run this country. You and the Chamber can go Sandra Fluke yourselves.
This from the same type of people who did not like Ronald Reagan.
I'm sure he'll come back if we give him Ted Cruz's head on a silver platter. Although at this point he might demand Sarah Palin's head too.
GOP-e speaketh.
Moderate means weak. Moderate means liberals get what they want incrementally. Moderate means attacking conservatives in your own party and shmoozing with liberals in the opposite party for being good little lapdogs.
If the title is true, it should rebuilt as Conservative. If noy, thr job isn’t finished.
“The Tea Party has completely captivated and ruined the Republican Party, and will doom the party’s chances of reclaiming the presidency unless it is checked,” (said Jon Huntsman, Sr. as he shoveled another handful of caviar into his bloviating pie-hole and then chastised the hired help for not catching the cracker crumbs that dribbled onto his bloated belly from his obese lips).
Elitists. Go figure.
