Sandra Fluke, whose sole qualification for public office was being called a slut by Rush Limbaugh, has had a very long 15 minutes of fame, but they may be over. With 100 percent of the votes counted, she was decisively defeated by fellow Democrat Ben Allen, a veteran local school official, running for a seat left vacant by the retirement of incumbent State Senator Ted Lieu.

Ugh...that is a visual I could have done without...but you’re probably right...folks like her need the attention, like an attention whore.

I attended a couple of candidate forums (fora?) in which Fluke and Ben Allen appeared. He came across as a nerdy local policy wonk. She came across as a humorless out-of-town ideologue. I spoke with her briefly at one event - asked if she knew a colleague of mine in her law school class. She seemed surprised that a Republican (I had on a GOP candidate button) would even make polite conversation with her.
She was doomed by the California top-two runoff system. Had she drawn a GOP opponent in the General, she would have had decent chance. As it was, Allen, the more reasonable Dem candidate started with all the GOP votes in the general. No way her Lefty Loon base could catch up to that.
