Midterm Elections 2014: Louisiana Senate Race Will Go to a Runoff (no Mary Landrieu victory)
abcnews. ^

Posted on 11/04/2014 9:06:16 PM PST by dennisw

The Louisiana Senate race is heading into a December run-off as no candidate was able to secure 50 percent of the vote.

Based on preliminary exit polls, ABC News projected Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., will face-off against Rep Bill Cassidy, R-La., in the run-off.

Campaign committees and outside groups have already reserved airtime ahead of an expected run-off. The National Republican Senatorial Committee has set aside $3.3 million to run ads in the month ahead of the December run-off. The Koch-backed group FreedoM Partners has also reserved $2.1 million in television advertisement time ahead of an anticipated run-off in the Bayou State.

This may go down as an inconsequential election after tonight, but I’d love to see this dingbat shoved out the door just on principle.

I expect that most of Col. Maness’s voters will support Cassidy in the runoff, even if they do so a bit reluctantly. So that’s likely another pickup.

Mary campaigned on being Senate Energy Chairman.

Even if re-elected, she will not have the post as part of the minority in the senate.

If those voting for Maness vote for Cassidy (after holding their nose), Mary Landrieu is toast.

December 6 may see Mary's last hurrah as she has as a companion in the runoff -- Edwin Edwards (Democrat and Crook for Congress).

Seems like the GOP ought to have some fun with ads about Mary and Edwards in the December 6 runoff...

Dittos. She is very irritating and will tell any hysterical lie to keep her job. The Landrieu family has been big in Louisiana politics forever MEANING she acts as though she is entitled to this Senate seat

Sen. Landrieu (D) 599,372 42%
Cassidy (R) 595,173 41%
Maness (R) 199,909 14%
Clements (R) 14,000 1%

Hard to see Landrieu winning the runoff.

The stupid cow will probably win, because you know, the people who have voted for her in the past are big racists and sexists or something.

Agree.

ALL of the conservatives will go over to Cassidy. Nice to see the Rats blow millions in a no chance to win situation.

It will be the happiest day of my life to see that socialist/democrat witch Mary Landrue defeated.

It was her vote that sent Obamacare over the top

without her vote Obamacare would not have passed

I'm in Louisiana and happily voted against her and will help here to defeat this marxist

I wonder if a lot of the money that’s been waiting on the sidelines for that runoff election will be off the table now. It isn’t shaping up to be a significant election right now.

Louisiana Democrats will stay home in droves. Republicans will be amped to add to advantage. Good Riddance Mary.

Can someone from Louisiana please inform me how the hell three "Republicans" could be running against the idiot Landrieu?

The front-running "Republican" (whatever the heck that is nowadays) would have been well over 50% .... right?

Georgia is another runoff state, extending all the way into next year. Fortunately, Perdue won with 53.18%, so no runoff is needed.

Democrats will stay home in droves

Democrats need not leave their homes to vote. It is done for them. In fact, many Democrats are more or less permanently at home in the cemetery.

The Dims will be too demoralized to show up for the run-off. They need to take this one and AK because in 2016 the Republicans will be playing defense in the senate.
