The Pyrrhic Victory: Tuesday Could End the GOP
Breitbart: The Conversation ^ | November 2, 2014 | Dan Riehl

Posted on 11/03/2014 8:06:04 AM PST by Bratch

Some prominent Republicans seem to be feeling their oats, assuming what are sometimes infamously referred to as "RINOs" or Republicans in name only by the Conservative GOP base, eat oats, of course. Mitt Romney is merely channeling Jeb Bush here in an increasingly obvious last-minute GOP establishment gesture to reach out to Hispanics, perhaps especially in Colorado, as we move closer to election day.

On "Fox News Sunday, former Gov. Mitt Romney (R-MA) said a Republican-led Senate would pass new, stronger legislation on immigration reform.

To be clear, there's absolutely nothing wrong with the GOP welcoming more and more Hispanics into a Right-leaning fold. In fact, it needs to do that. Unfortunately, there are few if any across the GOP's traditional - and much broader - rank and file supporters who still believe they'll do it with anything other than something amounting to trying to be better Democrats, than the Democrats themselves.

Republican Mike McFadden tried that in his bid to oust Al Franken in Minnesota. He's currently down by a Real Clear Politics average of ten points. The Mitt Romney, Karl Rove and perhaps now Jeb Bush led GOP refuses to accept the reality that they never will, nor can they be better Democrats than actual Democrats. Furthermore, the growing lack of enthusiasm and numbers across what was once a vibrant GOP base as they continue to try may indeed signal bad years ahead for a national party increasingly out of touch with their own past supporters around the nation.

"I’m not expecting change in the new year."

Correct.

The GOP will not take a serious run at Obamacare, Immigration, out of control federal agencies...nor the Rule of Law.

Nope. that's because they LIKE what's happening. They just want to be the one's driving.

I vehemently agree with your post! In this day and age giving up your vote is akin to surrendering to the enemy.

For the record, Republicans Vote on the 4th, Democrats vote on the 5th.

This just might happen. On the 5th, all the dead people will vote, boxes of previously-uncounted ballots will be found in the trucks of cars and in closets and storage cabinets at various civil offices and precincts, mail-in ballots with the necessary postmark will magically appear, and other irregularities will be found. Of course, all the votes will be for Democrat candidates - after-the-election activity never help the Republicans - and will be just enough for the Democrat to win for some odd reason.

Should the GOP actually gain the majority in the senate and house tomorrow, their future survival depends upon whether or not they display some cojones and act like conservatives.

Have IQs dropped suddenly or have Conservative Republicans become low information voters????

The GOP Ruling Class Leadership HAS ALREADY TOLD US they WILL NOT be enacting Conservative principles. They have told us IN ADVANCE that they are going to surrender power BACK to Harry Reid; pass a year-long budget during the Lame Duck session to make sure Conservatives in the new Congress cannot use that as a weapon to stop Obama's agenda; Amnesty is on the docket; and that ObamaCare is 'here to stay'.

Anyone that thinks handing the GOP the Senate is going to 'change' the direction we are going is patently delusional. 2002-2006 already showed us how a total Republican Ruling Class Party will run things.

The GOP is already technically irrelevant. The only power they currently have is to render Conservatives irrelevant before they are folded in with the MarxoFascist Democrat Party.

We look at the destruction of the Black family and wonder what it will take for Black Americans to wake up and stop supporting a party that enslaves them. I winder what it will take for Conservative Americans to wake up and stop supporting a party that not only enslaves them - but abuses them and intends to make them irrelevant.

“One thing the far right has in common with far left is an almost child like insistence on purity.”

So very true. Another similarity I have surmised, is that many on the far side of the spectrum seem to have little real world responsibility, like running a business, meeting a payroll, etc. Another two or four years of economic malaise is no skin off their apple. It is easy to be purer than pure when you have no skin in the game.

Some prominent Republicans seem to be feeling their oats

My fear (and expectation) is that if they do win the senate they will go back to what they were doing when Bush was president.

That is, slopping at the pig trough, making themselves and their pals rich, and ignoring the people who voted for them.

In other words, more or less what democrats do.

If you think about it honestly, much of what has happened since 2008 could have been avoided had republicans done their jobs between 2000 and 2008.

In fact, if they had they done a good job in those years, it is quite unlikely Obama would have ever been elected.

Uhh, you DO understand Republicans only controlled 1 House in the Congress....right? How can they repeal a law as you claim they should have?

Lots of these “I ain’t voting” guys claim to be strong its my way or the highway single issuers, but instead I suspect they don’t want a win which might just answer their complaint. Misery beats boredom.

If the the GOP wins and passes amnesty there will be the same crowd here in 2016 trotting out the same worn out cliches on why we must support the GOP then. This election is more of a repudiation of the democrats and obama than any support for the GOP. All they have offered is we are not obama or the democrats.

The GOPE will take a win tomorrow as validation of their war on conservatives and watch for them double down on that front in their war on the base.

“I’m not voting. The GOP will win but it will have no mandate.”

Good to hear. As the DEMOCRATS WIN RACES they were expected to lose, due to people like you, you can hold your head up PROUD, telling everyone, at least on this site, that you were instrumental in enabling those victories.

Thanks a bunch...

I know; I know.

Don’t want to vote but duty calls and the man I’m named for was killed in WWII protecting my privilege and right.

Do not have anything close to exhuberance.

But, Lord willing, I’ll go vote, just to NOT vote for Lindsey and to vote FOR Trey Gowdy.

Actually we have photo I.D. here in backwards Alabama. Apparently none of the rats noticed or just figured it was a hopeless case. They are becoming an endangered species here. The state has nice billboards up everywhere and runs commercials telling people how to get their free I.D.s We’ve had to show some kind of I.D. for sometime so moving to photos has been no problem.

I’m tired of all of this talk of Pyrrhic victories: If we win, we lose, in other words. Total BS if you ask me. The Dems, of course, never think and act that way. They fight to win EVERY election and so should we.

I agree.

As for this particular article, as soon as Rand Paul was favorably quoted, I quit reading.
