Becoming Rodney Dangerfield

Now, Ebola. And the President of the United States is not being challenged, he is being over-ruled with respect to quarantines. Over-ruled? State after state is placing its own quarantine restrictions on individuals coming from or returning from West Africa. The President has publically requested and privately demanded that all quarantines be voluntary. He has become no more than a voice in the wind. The armed forces of the United States are placing members of the armed forces returning from Ebola related duty on 21 day quarantine. This needs emphasis. The Commander in Chief, that is the role assigned to the President by the Constitution of the United States, is apparently unable or unwilling to order that the returning troops not be quarantined.

The governors of the most populous states, where there are the largest urban populations and major international airports have assessed the risk of an Ebola pandemic and determined to protect the people of their states by imposing a quarantine of individuals returning from West Africa. These are governors who are concerned for the people of their own states which is apparently a quaint notion lost in Washington DC.

How did it happen that the President of the United States became impotent? It happened when the states went off the rails and determined to ignore Federal laws and the President did nothing. In fact, he did everything but encouraged states to ignore Federal law by his personal and his Attorney General’s inaction. What has the Federal government done in response to ‘Sanctuary Cities'? Nothing. What has the Federal government done in response to the states taking specific action to block enforcement of most Federal immigration laws? Nothing. What has the Federal government done in reaction to state marijuana laws which effectively obviate existing Federal law? Nothing.

When the President of the United States and his Attorney General refuse to enforce laws or take actions to insure laws are followed, they lose practical and moral authority. Lawlessness becomes as accepted as law abiding. Indirectly these actions are enhanced when the Administration refuses to comply with information requests from virtually every oversight committee in each branch of Congress.

The decision to quarantine people returning from West Africa has to be among the easiest decisions facing these governors. If there is a one eighth of one percent chance that someone is going to get off an airplane and transmit the disease in a U.S. city, the decision to quarantine should barely reach the level of a decision And it is a political winner. If science were to ultimately prove that a quarantine was unnecessary, who can challenge a governor for taking a step that he or she believed protected the health and safety of his or her citizens?

These governors all heard the CDC leader indicate in back to back sentences that it was safe to ride on public transportation but someone with Ebola symptoms should stay off public transportation. And of course, the Ebola Czar was apparently immediately sent to Siberia to visit with the late Czar Nicholas as we have not heard word one from this guy.

The entire Federal government has lost credibility; think Rodney Dangerfield.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn put the entire problem in a single sentence: “This protective measure is too important to be voluntary,” he said in a statement. “While we have no confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in Illinois, we will continue to take every safeguard necessary to protect first responders, health care workers and the people of Illinois.”

What is amazing is that Governor Quinn and his peers obviously could not care less about what the President thinks of their decisions. The President cannot even get respect from Democratic governors.

From a nearby story:

"I don't think there's going to be a huge outbreak here, no," said Dr. David Relman, a professor of infectious disease, microbiology and immunology at Stanford University's medical school. "However, as best we can tell right now, it is quite possible that every major city will see at least a handful of cases."

1) How much traffic with Africa do we really have?
2) EVERY major city???
3) AT LEAST a handful of cases??

This is their "happy path" prediction where Ebola ISN'T a huge outbreak.

They know something. I think they know we're under attack. Ebola as a bio-weapon, simultaneously released in every state by Muslim terrorists.

You don't need thousands of deaths -- the panic will absolutely kill our entire economy.

What has become "Rodney Dangerfield" is the actual science from data.
An aerosol (eg. person with simultaneous influenza) can be beyond 3.00000 feet as claimed.
A physical spread can be contageous for more than 2 hours as claimed.
And the time of potential spread is NOT limited to 21 days as the data shows.

Duncan’s case cost the city millions and cost the hospital millions more in disruption and lost business. The regime appears to be using the Ebola crisis they are creating to bankrupt the medical system. When cases start to appear in the non-African population during flu season the toll on hospitals will reach billions of dollars.

Countries around the world are closing their borders to travelers from ebola nations but not Obola..the messiah...the smartest man in any room...the man who vowed to “fundamentally change this nation”. He is on course to destroy it and now may have to accelerate his plans if Tuesday does not go his way. For him, a nationwide Ferguson would be a triumph. Vote dammit! Even if you have to hold your nose...VOTE!

Getting no respect now is not the problem, the problem is that he was given so much respect and even adulation six years ago when he should have been held in total contempt. The land of the free and the home of the brave became the land of the free lunch and the home where you can’t call your team the braves. America, look around you and weep for what you have thrown away.

Should I ever be unfortunate enough to be within eye distance of the Obamadork, I will display to him my true regard...with the middle fingers of both hands garnished with a few of my choice words reserved for feces/etc.

I regard pond scum to be three or so quantum levels above this low life form.

It seems to me that FEMA camps would be ideal quarantine locations...

Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your dead! The Dark Man cometh! Bring out your......

(Since all records of obama's past were lost in a tragic boating accident and fire, no one can be certain that the guy in the red circle isn't him...)

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

How did it happen that the President of the United States became impotent?

Because he 'acts' a lot smarter than he is... and once that mask was gone the game was over.
