It was.
The frame would have been better with disc brakes, but that was not an option with this frame for some reason.
But, with the horseshoes on there it doesn’t flex, and the brakes have slightly more grip.
Enough that I slid for 17 feet as a deer ran across the road in front of me.
Burned off a bit of my tires with that.

the company does offer better forks now though?
Different frames now.
Chromoly is nice, tough, and lightweight.
But direct pulls were a bad idea for that frame.

Mountainbikes by them these days have a shock suspension, handles direct pulls better.
My bike would now be considered a “light trail bike”.

My handlebars are 6061 T6, and my seat post is chrome/silver not black as in the picture.
But, overall, accurate.

To me it sounds like Mary Burke was too busy living it up and measuring drapes to actually sell bikes when she was in Europe.
Is there a way to see sales and stuff from after she left the company in comparison? I am sure that would be interesting.

And the bike is nice.
Only mountainbike I’ve been able to haul to 30 MPH consistently.
Would be able to go faster if I didn’t have knobby tires on it.
I ride on the roads here, no trails to speak of worth hitting. :(
And I have to watch using the front brake, direct pulls are NASTY, doing an endo unintentionally is very surprising.
The family business might scrub that stuff from their websites until after the election, I guess.

You can get a Chinese made bike assembled at WM by a minimum wage employee for about that pricepoint.
But you’d have a real hard time getting any comparable MTB at a bike shop for anywhere near that price nowadays.

The missus got it on sale as it was an older model the year she bought it.
So it was for half price.

Nice bike, I have not seen any like it from its model year.
And it is waaaaay light for an MTB.
Shift your butt on the seat and you are going over that a way.
Now the question becomes what else did the MSM ignore about Ms. Burke?
BTW, in what has been a very tight race this should give Walker enough room to defeat the margin of voting fraud.

I have a hardtail chromoly Voodoo I bought in the late 90’s, on sale...like you, had to put a brake booster on the rear...very light and nimble bike. But my current ride is a bit more “plush”, a full suspension Giant Trance I bought in 2005.
I still have the Voodoo...upgraded just about everything on it since I bought it and although it’s hard to part with it, I plan to gift it to our son...he’s wanted it for years.
I put boosters on front and back.
The frame flex bothered me alot.
Added a couple grams to the overall weight, not that it matters!
The thing glides down the road, coasts like a ghost.
My only real bothersome complaint are the pedals.
The pedals are plastic, and the bearings in them are stiff.
Always were.
Been meaning to replace them out, never got to it.
Wanted to get my hands on a full suspension rig.
Figured I’d find a bike jump somewhere and regret it!
You can get some real nice flat pedals for a reasonable price and they’ll spin like windmills...go to your local bike shop or look around online.
That reminds me that I need to disassemble, clean, inspect and re-lube mine soon...
Been meaning to head to Action Outfitters for pedals, just haven’t had the time to do so yet.
I wonder if any of her apologies were taped?
