Cruz on Apple CEO Tim Cook being gay: 'Personal decision'
The Hill ^ | October 30, 2014 | Peter Sullivan

Posted on 10/30/2014 12:23:27 PM PDT by BurningOak

"Those are his personal choices. I’ll tell you, I love my iPhone," Cruz said.

"Listen, Tim Cook makes his personal decisions, and that is his life. My focus is on the constitutional question of who has the authority to make decisions," he later added.

Cruz said that marriage is a "question for the states" because of the country's federalist system.

"This is something we’ve seen over and over again, which is the federal government and federal courts deciding they don’t trust the people," Cruz said. "They look down on the people, they don’t trust us to make judgments about our own lives, so the federal government and federal courts are going to step in and impose their own policy preferences."

Would a better response of been, "death to all homos?" Then call for a public stoning?

The fact is, if people choose to be gay then that's between them and God. Not you. It's none of your damn business. They will have to answer for it.

Your kind is no better than leftists who wants the government in every aspect of our lives. I want government out of the institution of marriage completely.

That dumb s—t attitude is why we don’t win elections.

Some idiots join forces to get a Leftist on our party ticket, and then trash everyone who won’t vote for them.

Support Conservatives like Ted Cruz. We’re not buying what you’re selling.

Not all sin is equal. Scripture expresses contempt for homosexual behavior that isn’t used for other sins.

This post my friends is why democrats keep winning election after election.

Jesus Christ himself wouldn’t be a pure enough candidate for some of you.

Exactly right. Idiots.

Tom Cook believes that gay rights are the new civil rights

movement. Ted Cruz supports one man one woman as marriage.

he sets an example for young minds full of mush. There are personal behaviors which are not acceptable. period. CEOs are replaceable and so should he.

Cruz’s dancing around the subject was just trying to balkanize conservatives into behavior and fiscal conservatives.

What next? drug use is “personal”, animal sex is “personal”

“People who care when G_d is offended.”

There is zero we can do about stupid people choosing to lead immoral lives (to a point), other than to pray, teach, and no do business with them.

A goodly handful of people on this webboard feel Jewish people are offensive to G-d, because Jewish people do not believe the Nazarine to be the Mosiach.

Or because they are Protestant. Or Catholic.

Those who follow the Christian God. Now that Cook has gone public he is a role model in that regard for many.

Who the hell cares what a CEO does in his spare time!

"Yes as a matter of fact, what you do in the privacy of your bedroom IS my business."

I used to have that as a tagline. Pissed off the liberals here at FR.

Both your replies stink of conservative defeatism. You think conservatives have to compromise — to lose, only a bit more slowly — because you’re totally at a loss to summon arguments to defend what you supposedly believe.

Are you saying you believe something indefensible? Are you admitting to being hypocrites? Are liberals right in charging that conservatives want to control the lives of others just because they’re mean?

You two are perfect examples of why liberals keep winning. At least they believe in their side.

Pitiful.

What should Cruz have said? He might have said how rich it is that that liberals who bleat about the privacy of their bedrooms can’t seem to shut up about what happens there.

Lol. That was the point of my post.

I support Ted Cruz and he will have my vote. It's just some folks don't even think he is a pure enough conservative.

Okay, then I apologize.

I had read it to mean you thought we should support the likes of McCain and Romney.

Thanks for the clarification.

If Cruz isn’t good enough, then I agree. I will say the comments about these men’s character was unfortunate.

He should have omitted any comment on that IMO.

You are right, sadly-the constitution doesn’t say that everyone has the right to not be offended by someone’s beliefs or lack of them, despite some believing that it does. Atheists piss me off to the max, and I’d love to punch one out on general principle-but Jesus said that is wrong, so I leave them alone unless they want to hear about believing in God...

I think Cruz stuck to the letter of the constitution with his answer-isn’t that what we are trying to return to-the right to be left alone unless we commit a crime? That sword of ideological “purity” cuts two ways-haven’t we had enough of liberal “purity” and PC to let that go yet?
