Sorry, New York Times: ObamaCare Is Not Working

Health Reform: The New York Times on Monday featured a huge news package claiming that ObamaCare is delivering on all its main promises. But the Bible of the liberal press has badly misled its flock.

'After a year fully in place," the Times story begins, "the Affordable Care Act has largely succeeded in delivering on President Obama's main promises." So case closed, right? After all, a team of New York Times "reporters and data researchers" came to that conclusion.

In a word, no. To claim success, the Times gets things wrong or ignores the law's most glaring failures.

You can keep your plan - you can keep your doctor. FAIL!

When Obama declared in his State of the Union Speech that illegals would not get Obamacare, Congressman Joe Wilson courageously shouted, “You lie!” He was crucified by Democrats and their media lap dogs, but of course he was absolutely correct.

When CA was trying to sign up their Obamacare captives last year, they paid for Spanish radio ads that assured Mexicans that no check would be made on their immigration status if they signed up. Wonder how many hundreds of thousands of illegals are being subsidized by taxpayers now. We will never know because their eligibility is not examined.

How can that be when most of ACA’s key provisions have been illegally delayed until after the election?

Obamacare is working exactly as intended. The death spiral has begun and is even more precipitous than I thought it would be.

Case in point. My original private insurance plan was canceled in Sept. of 2013 because it didn’t comply with Obamacare, so I had to purchase a one that did (Anthem Blue Cross). The benefits and price were comparable to what I had previously.

I just got a notice that the plan I had just last year no longer complies with Obamacare (the goal posts seem to be continually moving) and a different one with comparable benefits is 60% more expensive ($480/month last year - $740/month this year). It was a “silver” type plan.

Only recourse to keep the premium about $500 is to go with a catastrophic, “bronze” type plan.

With premium increases of this magnitude, people are just going to go “bare”. So there will be less and less paying customers to support those who are getting subsidies or freebies. As this trend continues, the private insurance industry will hasten toward collapse. Voila - single payer for everyone. Welcome to the VA system, everyone.

I can only imagine what kinds of increases employer based plans are going to experience.

At least, I can keep my doctor. But I don’t know how much longer I can afford to go to her, so that’s a moot point.

"How come going to the doctor sucks? It used to be good." I can hear it now. And it will be the fault of the "greedy insurance companies."

That’s Pelosi’s favorite phrase - “greedy insurance companies”. When insurers signed on to Obamacare, they signed their own death sentence.

Gallup poll:

54% say that Obamacare has harmed them
26% say that it has helped

But, that’s OK - because “the right people” were harmed.
That was the goal.

I talked to my doctor yesterday. He is part of a 10 - 12 doctor practice. Obamacare is going to cause them to spend $400,000 to $700,000 for a new diagnosis coding system that adds nothing to the quality of the care. He says it has separate codes, for example, for the left and right ear, like that really matters in the reimbursement. I believe he said for treating an animal bite, the codes require you do identify the animal. Any problem with the coding on a claim results in denial of reimbursement.

He also said that our county hospital is going to have to spend millions for compliance. They just announced some layoffs for cost cutting measures, and this has traditionally been a very financially sound hospital.

Obamacare was clearly designed to wreck our healthcare system. The full implementation of the coding system has also been postponed until after the mid-term election. The whole damned Democratic party should go to the big house for life for fraud in passing and implementing this ObamaCare legislation.

Lots of that going around. My Blue Cross Blue Shield plan was 'grandfathered' last year, but BCBS has advised that my 'non-compliant' plan will be cancelled on Dec 31 2014. BCBS claims that they'll provide a choice of acceptable replacement policies but they won't make that information available until after November 15.

After the election Obama will begin extorting the congress for money to pay for the insurance companies’ losses.

Brace yourself. If your experience is anything like mine with Anthem Blue Cross, you might be in for a massive increase.

Death Spiral 101.

I’m expecting an increase. But, on the bright side, since Obamacare dictates all kinds of coverage maybe I’ll be able to get a free mammogram. </smile
