Gun control group throws additional funds into I-594, now at nearly $10 million

One thing the NRA agrees with on Everytown, however, is that I-594, while a state initiative, is a pivotal battle that could decide the course of the war over gun control versus gun rights in the nation.

“If this is successful in Washington State we can expect to see a cut-and-paste job in other states all over the country where they will try to replicate this,” Mortensen said.

Heads up WA. Hopefully the 10 million will be a waste. As far as the cut and paste in other locations, there is already a petition being circulated in NV for a similar initiative to be on the '16 ballot. I haven't been able to locate a copy of the wording on the petition but I'm sure it's full of dis-information, lies and obsfucation. Or as I like to call it, more anti-gun BS. Last I checked, if I had any, the guns around here are all sleeping peacefully and not causing an issue with anybody.

I’m trying to understand I-591. It seems to contradict I-594. If they both pass, which one is enforced?

My sense is this will pass given all the pub it gets, all slanted of course in the media. I wish it does go down so the control crowd gets it stuffed up their backsides.

Kinda wondering the same thing. Will one negate the other? Weird situation. Any Washingtonians out there got a clue how this would fall out?

The King County Demshavics are going to ram this thru. They are the Big Dog on the block, and they are going to make letting someone else at the range take a few shots with your rifle a felony.

Gun-rights activist pushes I-591 to curb background checks

Gun-rights activist Alan Gottlieb is leading efforts to pass I-591 to bar the state from enacting gun-purchase background-check laws. If it passes along with I-594, which would expand background checks, the issue could go to the courts.

If both pass, it goes back to the legislature to hammer out some sort of compromise. They are the one that failed to do their jobs and caused this mess to go through the initiative process. What a bunch of clowns.

I-594 adds something like 18 pages of new rules and legal booby-traps for gun owners. Tightening up on background checks is a very small part of it. The fine print will result in thousands of law-abiding citizens becoming criminals without even knowing it. For example, what does or does not constitute a gun transfer would make your head spin. If only people would inform themselves by reading the full text of I-594 in their voters guide, this thing would go down in flames.

I-591 one the other hand, simply states that Washington gun laws will not contain any requirements that supersede federal law. Democrats in my county are running ads that state the I-591 prohibits background checks, period! That is an out and out lie (or a misspeak in Democratese).
