You didn’t see the presser yesterday? Governor of New York and his team patted themselves on the back and said exactly that. “We aren’t going to make the mistakes the people in Dallas did.”

The hubris was amazing.

My comment was sarcasm. I should have noted it (”/s”) as such.

They only thing they do well is campaign and leverage chaos.

They didn’t plan ebola but they are taking advantage of it.

Please do your part to stop the insanity.

It has gone on long enough.

We need a travel ban from the Ebola countries.

Call your reps—NOW:

http://www.senate.gov

http://www.house.gov

Call the DC offices, or their local offices....but CALL!

The insanity of a doctor returning from a hot zone, breezing through the so-called “enhanced screening” process at the airport and then potentially exposing thousands of people to Ebola is the height of insanity.

We are ten days out from a nationwide election—the pols need to hear from you.

The family you save may be your own.

So here’s what I’m thinking. In the early stages, it does appear to be very difficult to contract. Duncan spent four days in close quarters with his family while contagious and none of them became ill. Even after they were shoved back into the contaminated apartment. The nurses who were with him during the last were the ones to get sick.

From what I’ve read, it becomes exponentially more contagious after the infectious period begins and really isn’t a problem until the end stages. It also looks like it doesn’t show up in sweat and saliva until the end.

Maybe it’s not as bad as we fear.

For those of you who thought Gunther Toody was a work of pure fiction...

Sorry 'bout that !   LOL

No, didn't waste the time watching those dolts, but have surely seen many mentions of it in here in the interim !

On a thread earlier this morning I, being ever helpful, offered a few suggestions re the charges that need to be brought against Doc Øbowla:

Felony Hubris .. Aggravated Assault with a Bio Weapon .. Criminal Smugness

Cuomo et al should surely - at minimum - be listed as co-conspirators.

Does it bother anyone else when they hear that you can't catch ebola from an infected person who's asymptomatic? I've heard this even from conservative talk radio.

Don’t need rain...pressure washers will do the trick, then birds, squirrels and dogs can enjoy their ebola baths...

Couple ways to look at it...

The amount of contagion accelerates substantially the longer someone is sick. Accordingly the amount of contagion per exposure is dictated by the type of exposure. So someone touching heavy droplets, sweat spit, etc will have less germs per volume than say blood or feces.

Incidentally how one is exposed and how much contagion is in that initial exposure dictates how one can be treated and all indications are that only heavy droplet exposed people have beaten the disease save for those who’s personal immunities rise to the rescue.

Problem here is this...

each exposure in the states raises the risk of a few things.

1. Mutation
2. Exposures to more contagious fluids
3. Outpacing insurance willingness.
4. Outpacing medical willingness.

No offense to you, but ...

Don’t knock New York’s finest. The CDC is supposed to coordinate training and prep, especially when it IMPORTS dangerous plagues.

I sure as heck couldn’t have been paid to go in that apartment!

I hope you’re right, and there are many examples of what you say being true, but a fever usually means that a virus is contagious. Even if no one is harmed, the CDC’s coordination of its imported plague is ASSININE.

It bothers me, too. I understand they are relating what they believe to be true about the ebola virus(es) they have examined and studied at length in the past.

But science and medicine are imperfect.. in large part because they were created by and are being used by imperfect beings who make mistakes.

Caught it while helping out in some African hell hole or another.

Just before he showed symptoms he was out bowling and riding the subways.

Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

Unbelievable. They feel the need to wear masks, but don’t mind just plunkning them in a public trash can - open grate construction, no less.
