This kumbaya method may not last very long, and informally may be ignored for everyone’s safety. We don’t work there day to day, and don’t really know what it takes to maintain such an environment without undue bloodshed.

I worked for CDCR for more than 25 years. Many of the changes they make, are caused by law suits, and many of the changes only facilitate more violence. These changes are usually made by idiotic judges, who were allowed to make idiotic decisions.
Lawfare designed to increase violence, and judges that are on board with the madness. CA doesn’t need an earthquake to self-destruct, and even the volcanoes in the state can remain quiet.
That is likely the most valuable statement that will be made on this thread.

Yep, and what these other posters are saying, is pretty much right on. They have racial barbers. The inmates pretty much self segregate, prison politics being what it is. It will create a jillion little fights in their cells. We used to just shake our heads in disgust at the BS that came down from above.
Yes they do, and vice versa. The white boys sometimes get involved, but not as much as what you mentioned.
People may not realize it, but the last thing that California wanted to do was segregate inmates. They looked at their jails as the ultimate chance to prove out what they knew to be right - which is that if you FORCE people of different types to live together (blacks and Latinos in this case), they will learn to love each other and racial problems will be solved once and for all.
Even by prison standards the violence became too great, so they had to segregate, and it did work, very well.
They should FORCE every cell, cafeteria table, sport, activity to be completely integrated in the spirit of Equality and Kumbaya.
The race riots were incredible. They tried EVERY SOLUTION that today’s “experts” could come up with, you know the type of people teaching in our public schools and universities. Yet you had hundreds of people brawling, with several being killed, in a typical riot.
They were totally ashamed of having to segregate, but they were out of ideas, and rather than writing letters to the editor, inmates tend to take matters into the their own hands a bit more.
