An Iowa woman went to the hospital for stomach pains and hours later gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Misty Beaty and Scott Steele from Cedar Rapids had absolutely no idea that Misty was pregnant until the moment she gave birth to Briggs Beaty on Monday morning. It was especially a surprise for Scott who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer five years ago and was told he was sterile.

That is a tough one to explain.

And you would think with the annual Tampon Budget reduced by 75% that he would have noticed.

Actually, just a joke!

But I noticed that the man is referred to as the husband, but their last names are different. I realize that nowadays the wife sometimes keeps her last name for professional reasons...but usually the baby get the father’s last name. In this situation, the baby has the mother’s last name. That struck me as a little odd.

“Proud father: Scott is beyond happy to be a father especially since doctors told him he was sterile after being diagnosed with colorectal cancer five years ago.”

Scott, I think you have just been played for the 250k it takes to raise a child.

Father’s name is usually there to ensure that the monthly child support is paid if they split. Fluke type females just consider men as sperm donors and child supports suckas...

Briggs Beaty

That sounds like the name of a soap opera character…

(or the story will soon be made into one ;)

A (clueless, ultra-liberal, feminist) co-worker of Mrs WBill's was six months along when the doc determined she was pregnant at her annual checkup. She had a hard time figuring out how it happened. Seriously.

Turned out to be a cute kid. I feel sorry for him, as he doesn't get to pick his Mom.

Contrast that with my situation. We'd just found out that my lovely wife was pregnant with WBill Jr, and we were keeping it quiet until we were sure everything was OK. Went to visit my grandfather. He took one look at my wife, got a huge grin on his face, and said "So, you have anything that you want to tell me?". I suppose that he didn't live to be 87 by being foolish. :-)

Some people are pretty clued in. Some are just clueless.

That happened to my wife’s cousin. He and his wife had been married for about a year. She is the kinda big-boned type girl. One night she had really bad cramps and thought she had eaten some bad food at a restaurant, went to the toilet and sat down, cramping like crazy. Then all of a sudden a small arm came out, and they went to the hospital full speed. Called the soon to be grandparents and they thought it was joke........................

"Missed her period for 8 months and never caught on?? Babies kick...I mean really kick...sorry...."

I'm a man, so caveats apply, but I'm NOT buying that a woman doesn't know she's pregnant at some point prior to the baby's HEAD poking out.
