Santa #4, just coming off a bathroom break turned the corner and saw a woman pointing an assault rifle at his coworker. He grabbed one of the shopping carts and started running at the woman who's attention was focused on the other Santas. He struck her right in the small of her back just as she squeezed the trigger, causing her shot to go wide. The woman went sprawling on the ground along with her rifle. Santa 4 picked up the rifle and shot the terrorist who was reaching for a her backup gun. He saw movement out of the corner of his eye and looked the 2nd terrorist square in the face. He saw his gun pointing in his direction and fired first, killing the
2nd terrorist outright. Thanks to his quick thinking many lives were saved that day.

I love your alternative ending. It would have been better only if Santa #4 had pulled his concealed carry Glock and simply blew them both away.
