And so the Battle of Leyte Gulf begins. The Japanese and Americans are finally getting their long-anticipated Decisive Battle.
It is interesting that Kurita had second thoughts, asking the very logical question, why should we fight through the American fleet now to destroy transports that have already unloaded their troops and equipment?
Darter and Dace certainly distinguished themselves, alerting the American fleet and sinking or disabling three heavy cruisers.
The next couple of days will be very interesting.
