If Harry Vosser (p. 27) had any real idea how atom bombs work, he certainly didn’t betray that knowledge in his otherwise interesting article. But then, such knowledge was far from common and hardly cleared for discussion in the Sunday newspaper.
It is interesting that Kurita had second thoughts, asking the very logical question, why should we fight through the American fleet now to destroy transports that have already unloaded their troops and equipment?
Darter and Dace certainly distinguished themselves, alerting the American fleet and sinking or disabling three heavy cruisers.
The next couple of days will be very interesting.
