Hospital involved is a mystery. Later in the story there are some reports on the other airports screening results.

The story is half-written. At least twenty questions would arise in my mind and the reporter just looks the other way.

I would think that the passengers got off the plane.....had a fever displayed and were ordered to some local hospital. Now, who pays for this forced test at the hospital? How many hours did the folks really spend at the hospital before being released? Did anyone transport them back to the airport?

Just theorizing here but maybe word is out in Liberia etc that if you have Ebola you can get free and excellent treatment in the US//// To get past screeners w thermometers in Liberia you just take acetaminophen.

So you get here and Ron Klain will whisk you away far from prying eyes and embarrassing publicity to a top flight med center

We only have random acts of journalism, and they are few and far between.

I am sure that the word is out in Liberia, and with lots of Liberians already living here, we will keep getting them no doubt.

However, some may believe the racist claims, and decide to go to some other country.

Two passengers flew into Chicago from Liberia were sick and are now it two separate hospitals. From what I can tell there is a low probability that it's Ebola.

Thanks for the links. The Washington Post did note that there were 2 in Chicago, but I had not tracked down the story.

In addition to the ones taken to the hospital, at Dulles, there were 3 with fever and an additional 28 sent for additional screening to the CDC unit on site at the airports. I guess they were all told to self-monitor.

I don’t expect to hear much on national news about status and new suspected cases - too close to the election, and sending the Dems chances even lower. AP already said it is no longer “moving” suspected Ebola cases, unless there is a positive test or some such.
The local news may be the only sources on what’s going on for a while.

Ebola coverage is such a joke and just so much ginning up for the sole purpose of Neilson ratings.

Ebola transmits much the same way as AIDS and MRSA.

Not very well.

The transmit requires specific circumstances and is nothing, in terms of infection like influenza, as far as propagation.

Is it terrible? Sure but, if you are identified at the proper time of its arc, before its apogee and can receive hydration as well remedies for lung infection, it can be beat.

AIDS and MRSA have no cure, like Ebola but, we have the ability to help the body fight back, extend life and possibly reduce detectable levels to zero or a manageable level, improving quality of life and extending it.

Only one question arises in my mind.

Why are we letting these people in?

Obama utterly failed in his most basic responsibility, to keep America safe. He is the Chief Executive in charge. Ebola was a known threat. His policies allowed it to come to the US. Obama cannot hide behind congress, or behind some bureaucrat. Obama owns this abject failure. May his soul burn in hell.

Do you believe if Duncan had helped carry his dying pregnant neighbor who had AIDS he would have gotten AIDS? There is some similarity in the Ebola and HIV viruses, both enveloped RNA. But AIDS patients don't turn into virus factories where every blood vessel in the body and several major organs like the liver are doing nothing but produce new copies of the virus. Second, like HIV, Ebola attacks immune cells but also uses the immune response to gain entry to the blood stream. A strong immune system doesn't help, and can make the spread of the disease more rapid in the victim with a very small window for the treatments you described.

Because of those factors, Ebola is much more dangerous than HIV.

They want to kill American first responders and health care workers and they want to bankrupt the health care system.

If you have it or the others, it’s terrible.

My objection to the gorification or glorification of the disease is not how awful it is but, how awfully hard it is to transmit.

It requires specific circumstances and elements to transmit.

Could be they went to a hospital other than Reston or Inova Fairfax.
Maybe NIH or Washington Hospital Center.

Forgot to add: Duncan “Donut Hole Head” did stay in an apartment with several other people, for at least a few days, while symptomatic.

They have been given the “all clear”.

Do I think he could have contracted AIDS if he carried the neighbor, who presumably had AIDS?

It’s “possible” but, the probabilities are conditional and specific.

So we are clear, I hugged friends with AIDS and took care of a friend who had Vancomycin resistant mrsa.

I took great care in to ensure I didn’t put myself in jeopardy and was consistent, probably a bit overboard, in protocol.

Gloves, careful emptying of porta potties, handling laundry, dishes, glasses, etc.

I should have bought stock in bleach, amonia and alcohol.

I cleaned a lot of things twice and I never washed my hands so much, as well spreading alcohol each time I involved myself in any activity where there was a possibility to come in contact with fluids.

Sucked for my friend, who had mrsa.

She was 95. We went through 2 rounds of picc lines and a round of oral antibiotics.

We had nurses on staff but, many times it wasn’t practical to wait until they could come to the house. So, we changed the picc’s and bags ourselves and dropped everything in a sharps.

I’m basing my argument on a similar experience, of a disease that kills and maims, like Ebola.

They are all horrible but, they all transmit under the same specific conditions, which are easy enough to avoid, as well, for the infected, to avoid situations where they might transmit.

Well, not to worry, they’ve quit ginning it up for now.

If someone gave me a choice between getting the flu and Ebola, I’d pick the flu. YMMV

I agree - miserable failure at protecting the citizens of the USA, but do you really think he wants to protect us?

Where ever they went, the reporter apparently couldn’t find them, and Homeland Security had no explanation either.
