shot down like a mosquito Have you ever actually tried to shoot down a mosquito?
It's dang near impossible, and you end up with lots of holes in the walls and ceiling...

Here is a comparison with US milcraft...
JJ: F-16 ping since the Rafael is an almost comparable MRF and India flies a LOT of F-16s. This is obviously a political purchase not a tactical one.

India likes to have a mix of aircraft from different countries, they are also buying (and co-developing with) Russian aircraft.

Almost all air combat is BVR and has been for decades.
I think it how well the avionics are integrated into the airframe and the missile capabilities that determines air superiority.

Is there any real documentation of a Sukhoi jet shooting down a mosquito?

shot down like a mosquito That's quite a sales pitch. Only Russian arms dealers pitch their goods via threats.

It is highly unlikely that India will acquire any Mosquitos. Maintenance is quite high, and Merlins are getting hard to find.
As far as I know, there are only two airworthy Mosquitos in the world.

Some Mosquitos are harder to shoot down than others!!!
