This should absolutely not be allowed, and I would amend the Constitution to forbid it.

It makes a mockery of the idea that a citizen should choose AFTER listening to the arguments and that the citizen, at least in theory, is open to persuasion.

That is especially important in a year like this, when evolving events can change everything before November.

Based on the internals of the polling done recently:
Iowa
Ernst 74283
Braley 74026

Encouraging but tight

Voting by Snail-MAIL.. or EMAIL... has enormous possibilities for FRAUD.. GINORMOUS..

It's not WHO votes it's who COUNTS the votes that count - Joseph Stalin..

FLORIDA: GOP voters account for 48.3 percent of the 535,000 ballots already cast, with registered Democrats comprising 34.5 percent.

Ouch! Surprisingly lopsided against the dems in a state that's essentially 50/50 Rep-Dem and where early voting typically favors dems....

Really? Was ANY “persuasion” going to convince you to maybe vote for Obama last time around? Me neither. You’re going to need a much stronger argument than this.

Ditto.
Early voting is too rich an opportunity for fraud to be tolerated in our republic.

I disagree.

Candidate positions are established early - so, voting early is the best course of action.

Debates and advertisements are theater - not important.

While that is true, late revelations sometimes matter. For example, if it's confirmed on 28 October Charlie Crist was in fact a member of NAMBLA, that's rather important.

There is one good thing about early voting, and only one: the effects of “October surprises” are lessened.

Should be Friday, Saturday and Monday before the election max, not weeks.
OR we should move election day to a Saturday,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I say give it 24 hours. Nobody could complain about that. 24 hours max. It’s just too easy to cheat otherwise.

Believe me, if people want to vote, they get it done.

That would be a good thing, 24 hours, beginning and ending at midnight. Surely you could find a period of time then to vote, otherwise absentee, and only absentee for 1 week prior.....................

This is why democrats will likely win several more presidential elections. When you have months to round up all the college kids, deadbeats, and “questionable” citizens, you will swamp the electorate. This is why Obama actually voted early himself in 2012, to demonstrate the importance of it.
