AUSTIN, Texas -- Houston Mayor Annise Parker has backed down from the subpoenas the City of Houston issued to several area pastors, Breitbart Texas has learned.
Breitbart Texas reported earlier about the controversy, stemming from litigation challenging the city's anti-discrimination ordinance and subpoenas asking the pastors for the content of their sermons, speeches and communications with church members. Texas Senator Ted Cruz weighed in, firmly supporting the pastors in their efforts to fight the subpoenas, while Mayor Parker initially remained adamant that the city had the right to request those records. Despite posting comments on Twitter just hours before that seemed to indicate she would continue to fight this issue, she told a Houston radio station that she has changed her mind.

Thank goodness she did, for now, anyway. Still, I suspect no christian in Texas will ever forget that she was for this kind of facist, intolerant treatment. They should never forget, now that they really know her. She will probably try it again when it’s not on the eve of an election season. Watch her closely. I can imagine my own California Gov. Jerry Brown doing the exact same thing, or having his right hand woman Kamala Brown propose it.

To reduce the solution to a pitchy sentence is simplistic. In order to truly impact society in such a way that people understand the concepts of freedom—namely the Constitution—and to live in such a way that liberty and justice for all citizens are protected, you must first educate citizens. This form education requires an entire overhaul of our institutions of education at every level. Furthermore, in order to live in a civil society such as America will require the return to basic Judeo-Christian concepts of life, liberty, and the basic respect for human life.
This is just one of the ways in which we would need to address the current state of our socio-political crisis in America, say nothing of the entire overhaul of our state and especially our federal system of government.
