In the last 18 months, hedge fund billionaire and global warming activist Tom Steyer has spent over $42 million of his personal fortune backing national candidates who share his views about climate change and opposing those who don't.

So far, it doesn't appear to be working out very well for him.

USA Today reports that Steyer has spent $4.7 million fighting Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Utah, in his drive to unseat Sen. Mark Udall, D-Utah.

However, Gardner has a four-point lead in polls, according to CNN.

Geez. What a piker huh? I'm sure (according to dnc sources[?]) that the Koch brothers have spent a gazillion dollars to buy the senate by now. Maybe tom needs to team up with bob seeger and kneel(neil) young and start a new band and name it tom, kneel and bob.

I'm glad we have USA Today correct my silly understanding.

Gardner and Udall are from Utah. And, here, I'd thought they were from Colorado. Silly me!

Well, Udall is Mormon, and everyone knows that ALL Mormons are from Utah. Take Mo Udall, for instance. HE wasn't from Colorado!

Is he? I know they were at one time, but I think they jettison the title as soon as it carries no further political advantages. Someone told me that Mormons are a double digit percent of the population in Nevada, similar to the % of Jews in New York, which would explain Harry Reid.

But I don't think they even break 5% in Colorado. I could be wrong. But Democrats generally like to discard their religious attachments once it no longer provides them any significant political advantages.

Sort of like John Kerry and Joe Biden like to pay lip service to "their Catholic faith" only because Catholics are a large part of their constituency.

I was joking. Mo Udall was a Congressman from Arizona, not Utah. I do understand that they are a "big" Mormon name, which helps fundraising in certain Mormon circles. I was kiding when I said all Mormons are from Utah, as Romney certainly isn't. I was trying to make a parody of the left view of the world.
