St. Paul man fired gun in Lake Como parking lot, charges say

One minute he was watching the ducks at Lake Como with his wife. The next, he was firing bullets in a public parking lot after he said he saw a woman steal his wife's purse out of their car.

That was the allegation in a complaint filed Tuesday against Matrix Richard Lee, 50, of St. Paul. Prosecutors charged him with dangerous discharge of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm, both felonies.

Lee and his wife had parked their Toyota 4Runner in the parking lot by the Black Bear Crossings cafe early Monday afternoon. They were watching ducks from the shore when Lee thought he saw movement near their car, the complaint said.

The complaint, filed in Ramsey County District Court, continues this way:

Lee noticed a white car had parked next to his. He thought he saw his passenger door open and close, but believed his eyes were "playing tricks" on him. Seconds later, a woman got out of Lee's car carrying his wife's purse, which his wife had left on the seat.

FIring bullets??? Well thats what guns do when loaded and the trigger is pulled. LOL.

Its hard to tell from the article b/c it seems to be written by a hyperventilating liberal but....it sounds much like Mr Lee would benefit from proper training before he goes public again.

Agreed including a legal class. The two I have taken were great, one by a police sergeant and one by a former Ada bow defense lawyer.

Lee’s wife left her purse on the front seat? In plain sight?

My Gawd, where does Lee think he is? Mayberry?

Well, the gun grabbers got another one off the street, thanks to Matrix Richard Lee and his stupidity.

We call stupid people that leave valuables in plain sight “baiters”.

Now, if had been a couple of women delivering papers in a truck that wasn't the same color or make as a cop-killer's truck, it would have been ALL GOOD if the State's hired muscle/gunthugs had hosed down the parking lot with lead...

I’ll bet he got his permit training in a room at the Holiday Inn.

I guess you’re “reckless” if you don’t hit the target.

Yes because only cops should have guns since they get special training and all in how to react calmly in situations. /sarc

Setting the shooting aside for a moment, this is why you should always keep a listing of the contact phone numbers for your credit cards and other ID handy, but not in your wallet or purse, of course.

I’m rather pleased with the service of my CC company, as twice now they notified me of their suspicion that my numbers were stolen. Another time, when the card itself was stolen they notified the police quickly.
