Tom Cross got the name "Double Cross" while he was Minority Leader in State House the Democrats ran everything but the Republicans would always help with votes like Civil Unions, Same Sex Marriage, Tax Increases. There would always be 3-5 Republicans that would vote in favor of the Democrats and they would pass a bill by a couple of votes.
I’ll say. How about something really novel, a Democrat who doesn’t vote Communist ? We already have enough who do, and their “Republican” pals like Double Cross.
we’ve got lots of Colin Powell’s in the GOP leadership these days.
Party R has pretty much outed itself as the me-too wing of Party D.
Before the primary, all Illinois Republicans should have known that Cross is too liberal.
Lovely race. Cross on one side. And on the other, Mike Freichs, a real prince, pathological liar. I’d like to repeatedly kick Freichs in the testes to ensure he doesn’t propagate his bloodline any more than he already has (cute little daughter).
And then you have Judy and Spawn of Simon, running for fugliest woman in Illinois, and it’s a draw.

This is guy is such a weasel that he told all his GOP donors that he was against gay marriage throughout the fall session, then "changed his mind" and voted for it at the last minute when Madigan needed a third GOP vote to get the bill passed. No wonder Madigan has enjoyed a veto proof majority when Cross was the "Republican" opposition.
Right on cue, Diane Rauner, the Democrat wife of "Republican" gubernatorial nominee Bruce Rauner, just took out a full page ad in the Chicago Tribune about how Bruce will "protect reproductive rights".
Cr@p like this makes it hard for me to be sympathetic to the crybabies in other states screaming "RINO!!!" at solidly conservative incumbents because the candidate doesn't yell "TEA PARTYYYYYYYYY!!!" loudly enough for them. They don't know how good they have it.
The word "RINO" is being abused to trash candidates that are 10X more conservative than true RINOs. You want to see what a RINO is? Come to Illinois and listen to Bruce Rauner ("our" nominee for Governor), Tom Cross ("our" nominee for Treasurer) and Judy Baar Topinka ("our" nominee for Comptroller) gloat about how liberal they are. THAT'S a Republican In Name Only. It's not an incumbent who votes like Ted Cruz but happens to live in Virginia most of the year.
To all the Tea Party crybabies in other states -- if you're sooo upset about having "RINOs" like Mike Enzi and Pat Roberts, we'll GLADLY take them in my state. It would be a vast improvement over what passes for "Republican" here.
I'm still sickened by the fact that my township GOP organization voted to endorse this scumbag in the primary AFTER the actual Republican in the race, Bob Grogan (who is actually qualified to be Treasurer unlike Cross), made a personal visit to our slating session and was highly recommended by all the rank and file party regulars at our meetings. Grogan was the only candidate I personally endorsed before the endorsement vote and sent out emails urging my fellow township GOP members to support. It felt like a slap in the race, especially since candidates needed at least 60% of the organization to vote for them in order to receive an endorsement from the township organization. Are there really that many ignorant GOP voters who don't know about Cross' record and policies?
Bruce Rauner leaves much to be desired in his views. Still, his wealth is being used for a major GOTV operation, which should benefit conservatives and TEA Party supporters in November.
The same thing could be said for Willard in MA in 2002 and 2004, and look how that turned out.
Yes, obviously there are. Though I'd guess local organization was probably payed off in some way.
BTW, Bill Kelly is running his first TV ad for mayor of Chicago. People complain hes a political gadfly but the spot hes running looks pretty effective and serious to me. If hes able to get on the ballot, hell be the first GOP candidate for mayor of Chicago in 20 years. I think the election is February 2015, with the runoff in April. (all candidates for city offices run in a big “non-partisan” election and don’t have their party listed on the ballot).
Thoughts?

I like it.
Haven’t seen it on tv yet.
