Nanny State PING!
Swing control, universal background checks, then swing confiscation. For the children...
Throughout my childhood, I knew of but one case in which a child was injured by falling from a swing—and it was because he deliberately “bailed out,” as he explained.
The pussification of America continues.
Who will defend our country when all our children grow up to be wusses?
Thanks for the ping!
My brother fell off the monkey bars (YES WE HAD SOMETHING CALLED MONKEY BARS AND NOBODY DIED)...he fell off and broke his arm. So freaking what. Didn’t stop anyone from going back and those monkey bars hold some of my fondest, funnest memories.
The time is rapidly coming when kids will be placed inside giant plastic bubbles at birth, and will be expected to live there continuously until their last day on Earth.
If the folks on the RIGHT want to win the hearts and minds of “low info folks” we start with STOP IT!! a campaign to end all the little ticky tacky rules. Leave my kids, the school lunches, the words college kids can use, the non stop rules for healthy - ideas.... food, sex, babies, streets, clothing, cars etc etc. Just leave folks alone to get a job and build a life. Republicans would get a giant horah from most folks if they spent two years cleaning out government and making the rules - things we call over regulation but starting with ticky tacky rules - get that crap out of the government.
Does that mean we get the jungle gym back?
I think its more a lawsuite issue. For you Florida Freepers think "Morgan & Morgan. For the Money....I mean... For the People".
I think its more a lawsuite issue.

Don’t parents have to sign waivers on suits for injuries due to accidents when they allow their kids to play in little league soccer, baseball, football? Isn’t the same true for public school sports? .....Perhaps the enrollment form in a school should contain such a waiver.
In elementary school, we had high swings over gravel and could actually swing so high that we could loop over the top bar. Yep, there were falls and injuries. ...Same on the monkey bars and the things (can’t recall the name) that kids would sit or stand on that spun around at fast speeds as kids on the ground would push it around. Kids fell off and got skinned up. .....Red Rover resulted in lots of bruises, busted lips, etc., for boys and girls both.
No parents ever considered filing a lawsuit against the school, as such minor injuries were not the school’s fault; just a normal part of growing up for kids.
“Who will defend our country when all our children grow up to be wusses?”
Wussy training seems to be endemic in big, liberal, white cities like Seattle. In the Southeast exurbia, I see playgrounds, football fields and baseball diamonds everywhere. That’s where the next generation of warriors will rise from.
FYI, Seattle has more dogs than children. Millions of families with children have been fleeing liberal, big city sh*tholes since the 1990s.
Make note that liberal demographers have changed the way that populations are counted. When these demographers see populations drastically falling in liberal cities, they now group these failing cities into “metropolitan areas” in order to hide the declining populations in liberal cities. These metropolitan designations include suburbs and exurbia areas where populations from liberal cities are settling.Polls show that families flee liberal cesspools because they are NOT family friendly.
Yes, we had monkey bars—we called it a jungle gym—tall swings, a merry-go-round and metal slides in our school playground and at all of our parks. They’re long gone.
A few days ago on this board, there was a story about a woman in Austin, Texas who got in trouble for letting her kids play in her front yard without supervision, so now she doesn’t let them play outside at all.
And now that kids are no longer allowed to play outdoors the way they used to, we have an epidemic of childhood obesity.
